Maybe ever.

QuoteWR Drew Morgan – Arkansas – Class of 2013

Razorbacks senior wide receiver made the most of his opportunity when he signed as a 2-star recruit in 2013. Morgan became Mr. Reliable for Arkansas' passing game during the past two seasons, racking up a combined 124 receptions, 1,507 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

Also noted:

LB Danny Trevathan – Kentucky – Class of 2008  (won two over Razorbacks)

DE Preston Smith – Mississippi State – Class of 2011

DE Charles Harris – Missouri – Class of 2013 (see Danny Trevathan)

QB Dylan Thompson – South Carolina – Class of 2010

You'd be hard pressed to find an Arkansas starter under Bret Bielema that wasn't a 3-star prospect.

Quote13. 2010 Florida: 37-26 (.587)
Just barely edging out the Hurricanes for the Worst No. 1 Recruiting Class are the Florida Gators. The last class Urban Meyer would sign as the Gators' head coach had one good season (11-2, Sugar Bowl loss to Louisville in 2012 under Will Muschamp) but never even won a divisional championship. The class had an extensive list of defensive players who would go onto college stardom and the NFL; but the offensive class was — ahem — lacking.

10. 2003 Florida: 46-18 (.719)
Led by 5-star recruits D Caldwell and Chris Leak, Florida's 2003 class went on to a national title following the 2006 season.

8. 2000 Tennessee: 47-17 (.734)
A group that had five 5-star recruits — but, undoubtedly, the most famous was 4-star tight end Jason Witten.

7. 2007 Florida: 50-17 (.746)
This group is now more well known for their stories after National Signing Day (Cam Newton and Aaron Hernandez, for instance), but Joe Haden blossomed into a first-round pick and this class won a national title after the 2008 season.

5. 2009 LSU: 53-13 (.803)
LSU edged Alabama for the No. 1 overall class, and was led by familiar names like Morris Claiborne (a 3-star recruit!), Rueben Randle and Barkevious Mingo. This group played for the national title after the 2011 season, but lost to Bama.

2. 2011 Alabama: 62-7 (.899)
Bama's 2011 signing class helped the Crimson Tide win national titles in 2011, 2012 and 2015. The group had three 5-star commitments, which included current NFLers Cyrus Kouandjio and Hasean Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

1. 2012 Alabama: 64-6 (.914)
Bama's 2012 signing class won national titles in 2012 and 2015, and have one more shot to get a third tonight.

NOTE: Alabama's really just competing with itself now.

QuoteJames Clemens defensive end LaBryan Ray, Jackson-Olin linebacker T.D. Moultry and Lee-Montgomery receiver Henry Ruggs III all earned five stars from 247Sports.

Moultry is solid in his commitment to Auburn. He joins Washington, D.C., offensive tackle Calvin Ashley as five-star commits in Auburn's class.

Ray is coming off an official visit to Tennessee. He visits Alabama this weekend and Florida next.

Ruggs visited Florida State last weekend and will go to Alabama this weekend.

Alabama has four five-star commitments in running back Najee Harris, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood and linebacker Dylan Moses.

QuoteRunning back Alex Collins was one of the best backs in Arkansas history. Tight end Hunter Henry was an All-American and Mackey Award winner. A handful of others have made a considerable impact on the program.

2013 also had its fair share of underachievers.

Signed enrollees: 24

4-star recruits: 4

3-star recruits: 18

2-star recruits: 2

Ranking: 23 (nation), 9 (SEC)

Alex Collins, 4-star RB
Collins was a superstar in his three seasons at Arkansas. He rushed for more than 1,000 each season — joining fellow Razorbacks great Darren McFadden and Heisman winner Herschel Walker of Georgia as the only SEC players to do so.

Hunter Henry, 4-star TE
Like Collins, Henry turned out to be the best recruit at his position in the class. He too left school with one year of eligibility remaining. The 2015 John Mackey Award winner was a consensus All-American and twice a first-team All-SEC selection.

Denver Kirkland, 4-star OL
The third player in this class to leave for the NFL Draft after three seasons...

Austin Allen, 4-star QB
Allen's legacy with the Hogs still is to be determined.

Reeve Koehler, 3-star OL

Carroll Washington, 3-star DB

Brooks Ellis, 3-star LB
Ellis started 41 games over four years with the Hogs. He led the team in tackles each of the past two seasons and was viewed as a defensive leader by teammates...

A.J. Derby, 3-star QB
Derby made a remarkable transformation during his time at Arkansas that propelled him to a career in the NFL. He signed with Razorbacks as a quarterback from Coffeyville...

Dan Skipper, 3-star OL
Though he was a four-year starter, Skipper became a very valuable asset in 2016

Myke Tavarres, 3-star LB

Martrell Spaight, 3-star LB
Spaight, who transferred from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College, became a standout in 2014 as a senior. That season, he was a consensus first team All-SEC selection and had a SEC-best 128 tackles. He's the only Arkansas player ever to lead the conference in tackles.

Alex Brignoni, 3-star DB

Melvinson Hartfield, 3-star WR

Korliss Marshall, 3-star RB

Damon Mitchell, 3-star QB

Denzell Evans, 3-star RB

D.J. Dean, 3-star DB
Dean had an up-and-down career with 16 career starts and 4 interceptions over four seasons. He was never able to establish himself as a lockdown corner or even a permanent starter —

Tevin Beanum, 3-star DL
Beanum is set to enter the 2017 season as one of  the Hogs' most experienced defensive players.

Johnathan McClure, 3-star OL

Ke'Tyrus Marks, 3-star DL

De'Andre Coley, 3-star DB
He had 37 tackles while making six starts and have every opportunity to start in 2017 and exceed expectations.

Tiquention Coleman, 3-star LB

Drew Morgan, 2-star WR
Morgan should easily be considered the biggest overachiever of any recruit in the Bielema era. From Greenwood (Ark.) High School, he was a 2-star recruit rated as the No. 152 athlete and No. 12 in-state player in the class.

Sam Irwin-Hill, 2-star P
Australia native came to Arkansas after two seasons at City College of San Francisco and averaged more than 40 yards per punt as a two-year starter. One of the best highlights of 2014 with a 51-yard touchdown run off fake punt against A&M.

QuoteFor all the storybook rises to fame we've seen from top recruits in recent years — Allen, Vernon Hargreaves III and Myles Garrett, among many others — there have been just as many big-time disappointments in the SEC.

Alabama: OT Tyler Love (2008), CB B.J. Scott (2008), QB Phil Sims (2010)

Tennessee: QB James Banks (2002), RB Bryce Brown (2009), WR Da'Rick Rogers (2010)

LSU: WR Xavier Carter (2004), QB Ryan Perrilloux (2005), QB Russell Shepard (2010)

Georgia: RB Albert Hollis (2000), DE Brandon Miller (2004), RB Isaiah Crowell (2011)

Florida: DB Will "Trill" Hill (2008), DT Gary Brown (2009), DE Ronald Powell (2010)

Auburn: OLB LeMarcus Rowell (2001), ATH Trovon Reed (2010), OT Christian Westerman (2011)

South Carolina: RB Demetris Summers (2001), WR O.J. Murdock (2005), WR Shaq Roland (2012)

State: DB Darren Williams (2002), RB Nick Turner (2002) and DT Quay Evans (2012)

A&M: OT Jorrie Adams (2003), WR Thomas Johnson (2012), WR Speedy Noil (2014)
Johnson, part of Kevin Sumlin's first signing class, caught 30 passes as a true freshman — but then disappeared for three days in mid-November. Police found him at 3 a.m. after he reportedly walked at least 26.2 miles. He withdrew from school, and his erratic behavior in the following years led to many speculating whether he was dealing with a mental illness. Johnson was arrested for allegedly killing a jogger in 2015.

Ole Miss: QB Robert Lane (2003), DT Jerrell Powe (2005), WR Patrick Patterson (2009)

Missouri: QB Chase Patton (2004), TE Andrew Jones (2008), WR Dorial Green-Beckham (2012)

Kentucky: DT D.J. Stafford (2007), WR Aaron Boyd (2008), QB Morgan Newton (2009)

Vanderbilt: QB David Koral (2001), TE Jonathan Massey (2006), TE Dillon Van Der Wal (2011)

QuoteWhen you become the first true freshman quarterback in more than 30 years to lead your team to a national championship game, you know you're doing something right. Such was the case with Jalen Hurts, the athletic, stoic son of a high school football coach from Texas.

Jonah Williams was one of those blue-chip recruits who fans and coaches expected to play all along. But no one could have seen his freshman season coming. The former Folsom...

Player to watch for in 2017: Mack Wilson showed up on the tape every now and then in 2016...

Though there is a lot to like about the offensive linemen in this class, linebacker could be the position where we see the most impact players.

Saban has to be pleased with this group, especially on offense. In Hurts and Williams, he has the cornerstones...

QuoteSosa moved into the starting lineup late in the season, slid from defensive end to defensive tackle and finished the year with 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a pair of quarterback hurries to go with 27 tackles. A five-star prospect that the Razorbacks were able to keep home, Agim certainly showed flashes of what he can be in the future and earned All-SEC freshman team honors.

Linebacker De'Jon Harris both made a solid impact in his first season on campus and also earned All-SEC freshman...

Player to watch for 2017: Devwah Whaley. The running back was one of the highest-ranked prospects in the Razorbacks' 2016 class and started to find his footing in the second half ...

Position where class will make the biggest difference: Defensive line. Talented defensive fronts are a must in the SEC and the Razorbacks went heavy at the position in the top half of this class. Agim, defensive tackles Briston Guidry (an ESPN 300 prospect) and Austin Capps (a four-star prospect) and defensive end Jonathan Marshall (a three-star prospect) will be relied upon...

One year later: There's still much to be determined with this class, but what we've seen so far is encouraging. Agim, Harris and Whaley all look promising and Hayden Johnson saw plenty of time starting at fullback. How players like Guidry, Capps and Marshall and the host of linebackers in the class (Giovanni LaFrance, Alexy Jean-Baptiste, Dee Walker) develop will have a large role in how this class is evaluated long term. Defense is where the Razorbacks need the most help and it starts up front: This class had a combined eight defensive linemen and linebackers.

Looking back at Missouri's 2016 recruiting class
http://www.espn.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/126759/looking-back-at-missouris-2016-recruiting-class

QuoteTwo players from the class came in and made significant immediate impacts: running back Damarea Crockett and offensive tackle Tyler Howell. Crockett came in and set the Missouri freshman record for single-season rushing yards (1,062), single-game rushing yards (225) and rushing touchdowns in a season (10).

Receiver Dimetrios Mason wasn't even a part of the recruiting class until a day before national signing day last year (he was committed to South Alabama but said the program pulled his scholarship in the 11th hour), but the Tigers scooped him up and he became a key contributor at receiver.

2017: Linebacker Cale Garrett was a solid contributor in his first season on campus, finishing seventh on the team last season with 47 tackles and tied for third on the team with six tackles for loss. Garrett also had an interception and a pair of pass breakups.

Running back. The class has already made a huge impact at the position with Crockett. It was an area of significant need after the Tigers struggled to run the ball successfully and consistently in 2015. With two years of eligibility left, Crockett will have a lasting impact.

So far the Tigers have received quality returns from the prospects who hit the field in 2016, and there are others who could make an impact in 2017. Getting the left tackle and running back spots shored up with Howell and Crockett were big. The class may be relied upon to fill some upcoming voids.

Quote4-star Marlon Davidson from Montgomery, ranked No. 32 in the ESPN 300, went on to start every game for the Tigers and finished with 38 tackles, six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also broke up four passes and forced a fumble.

Defensive back Daniel Thomas almost didn't sign with Auburn. Had Nigel Warrior committed to Auburn instead of Tennessee, it's likely that Gus Malzahn wouldn't have extended a scholarship offer to Thomas. All Thomas did as a true freshman was come down with two interceptions against No. 1 Alabama in the Iron Bowl. Not bad for a guy who wasn't even ranked.

2017: There was a lot of hype surrounding wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers when he arrived last summer. He was the No. 2 wide receiver in our nation and ranked No. 37 overall in the ESPN 300, and he was coming in at a spot where the Tigers were looking for playmakers. He struggled, though.

Between the Jarrett Stidham signing and the Chip Lindsey hire, it's clear that Auburn wants to throw the ball a little more in 2017. The other part of that equation falls on the wide receiver corps, an area the staff addressed in a major way with the 2016 recruiting class.

Of the 22 players Auburn signed in 2016, 12 saw the field this past year. The star was Davidson, though fellow defensive lineman Derrick Brown made the most of his opportunities when he came in to spell Montravius Adams. Brown, the highest-ranked player in the class, finished with 12 tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Between those two, the impressive group of wide receivers and other contributors like defensive back John Broussard or running backs Kam Martin and Malik Miller, there's a lot to like about this group going forward. The one failure was ESPN 300 tight end Landon Rice, who left the program early in the season and was later accused of rape.

QuoteEven when a video surfaced of prized prospect Jeffery Simmons appearing to hit a woman, coach Dan Mullen didn't back away from his recruitment. Simmons signed, was allowed to enroll and missed one game [the USA loss] because of suspension. He played in every other game in 2016, and shined [not unlike the woman's eye]. Simmons made 40 tackles, including 3.5 for a loss, and had four quarterback hurries, two passes defended and two forced fumbles, ending the season as a Freshman All-SEC selection.

State's front seven is technically a front six, according to the school's media guide.
All but one of the starting defensive linemen and linebackers penciled in for the St. Petersburg Bowl are gone, including star middle linebacker Richie Brown. And that's something Dan Mullen and his staff clearly planned for, as all three of its ESPN 300 signees play there. Simmons was the highest-rated player in the class overall, but he was followed by Erroll Thompason, the No. 6 inside linebacker, and Kobe Jones, the No. 21 defensive tackle in the class.

If we were grading Mississippi State's 2016 Class, it would have to be incomplete. That's not unusual, of course. Mullen will tell you that his is a developmental program, meaning redshirts aren't unusual and progress requires patience. After all, it's not as if Dak Prescott or Ross were overnight sensations...
