Michigan 79, Marquette 61, at MSG. Marquette had wiped out Vanderbilt the other day.

Seton Hall 91, Iowa 83. At Iowa City.

SMU 76, Pitt 67. Kevin Stallings is the coach at Pitt now. They opened with a truly uninspiring, 2OT win over Eastern Michigan. SMU beat EMU by 37. Under Tim Jankovich, SMU is 3-0.

Florida 73, St. Bonaventure 66. Don't know what to think about this one.

UCF 86, Mississippi State 61. In Charleston, SC. Quinndary Weatherspoon shot 6-18, and MSU did not do much rebounding. Are they really awful?

Xavier 83, Missouri 82, OT. In Kissimmee, Fla. Not bad, Tigers.

Arkansas State 78, Georgetown 72. Discussed elsewhere, but have to mention it here.

Miami, Fla., 94, North Florida 56, in Jacksonville. I love Miami's whole system.

Lamar 63, Oregon State 60. At Corvallis. Lamar is coached by Tic Price, the former Memphis coach who quit after his sexual liaisons with a student were revealed. OSU's coach is Wayne Tinkle. Nuff said.

Illinois Chicago 86, Texas San Antonio 78. Dikembe Dixson had 31 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals. He was Horizon freshman of the year last year. Didn't Arkansas think about signing him?

Dayton 77, Alabama 72. At Tuscaloosa.

South Carolina 70, Monmouth 69, OT. At Columbia.

As is Payton Willis at Vanderbilt. Mitchell Smith isn't getting much done for Mizzou yet but the season is still young.

How is MS State getting top 25 votes?

Most people don't follow closely enough to know that Malik Newman transferred and they think Ben Howland is a God after his time in UCLA.

The quality of high school basketball in Arkansas is vastly better than it used to be.

Hard to believe MSST is so bad. Howland has had 2 very good recruiting classes, although Newman left. But the classes were still good enough to where they should be beating teams like UCF this year.

Dikembe Dixson was highly pursued as a late addition for 2015 by a number of teams. He was supposedly set to visit Arkansas, then canceled last minute and set a visit for Alabama. Then he never made his Alabama visit and suddenly committed to Illinois Chicago. Not sure what all went down with all that. Odd to be getting high-major interest and then go to a low-major school. He put up insane numbers as a freshman. 19.8ppg, 7.3rpg, and played an amazing 36.7mpg. I would guess either he is phenomenal or UIC must really suck. I don't know as I have never followed them.

Jacorey Williams averaging 21.5 pts for MTSU. If only we would have had those 2 guys on last years team, might have made the tourney. Still kinda stings a bit but, oh well.

Just that alone probably would have gotten us there. Then add Qualls...

If only life went according to plan...

Xavier 83, Clemson 77. In Kissimmee, Fla. After Xavier struggled against Mizzou.

Northern Iowa, 73, Oklahoma 67, OT. In Kissimmee. NIU was +11 in turnover margin, while the Sooners had a hard time making shots. Big NIU rally to force OT, after OU led by 18.

Xavier 67, Northern Iowa 59. Xavier found its game again.

Michigan 76, SMU 54. In MSG. Michigan has guards and height/muscle.

Pitt 78, Marquette 75. In MSG. Pitt started no guards - none - entire lineup of forwards. First man off the bench was 6-9, 225. Crazy, but Marquette lacked the guards to hurt them.

Saint Mary's 61, Dayton 57. At Dayton. The Gaels are off to a great start, with a strong inside game.

Rhode Island 76, Cincinnati 71. The Rams are coached by Dan Hurley (brother of Bobby).

Tennessee State 74, Middle Tennessee State 63. At MTSU. TSU put on a huge run late in the game to pull off this upset. TSU coach Dana Ford (former assistant for Gregg Marshall at Wichita State) is one of the rising stars. The Tigers won 20 games last season and are undefeated so far this season.

Michigan State 78, Florida Gulf Coast 77. The Spartans are off to a rough start.

Arkansas State 73, UT Chattanooga 67. At West Point. That is a good win for ASU.

Iowa State 130, The Citadel 63. Nick Weiler-Babb (as he is known now) had 10 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast, 3 stl off the bench. Halftime score was 62-22, then the Cyclones scored 68 in the second half.
