I bought their magazine yesterday - was miffed to find out that half of the magazine is actually an NBA preview. But there's a lot of college stuff in there.

Their SEC picks included Arkansas No. 2. The Razorback preview article said "the Hogs are back."

I was surprised - Mike DeCourcy and TSN have been bearish on the Hogs for a long time. Arkansas does not make their top 25, but second in the SEC is a lot better than we've seen in other previews.

We'll get a good dose of basketball over the next week.  Opening game on Friday and also a huge game against Southern Illinois on Monday.  Need to fill the Bud!

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

He also left out that we play Texas in the non-conference schedule.  But all in all for an out of state guy its pretty thorough.

Anderson/Richardson style basketball may be based upon pressure defense, but it is at its best when they have multiple offensive threats plus a center.  This team should be the best offensive team the Hogs have put on the court in 20 years.  Could be a special season.

Easier to force tempo when you make shots consistently.

What will be interesting is in conference game officiating with so many new players.  They need to adjust in the non conference and get an idea of what will be called.  The SEC has some teams who will have no problem playing games where 50-60-70 FT's are shot.  Really hard to get going when the game ends up in a FT shooting contest.
Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

He mentions Texas in the non-con paragraph under the Big 12 pic. And I agree, he covered a lot of bases.

If we take care of biz on the court, we should have a full house on a regular basis... :razorback:

Spot on.

I think all the emphasis on freedom of movement has actually made the game much more slow paced and less exciting. There really isn't incentive now to play the full 94 feet on defense.
