Just so that we're all clear on what the Haters and Huggers are arguing about, would someone list the coaching mistakes made by Nutt tonight.  What did Nutt do tonight to receive the Wrath of Hogville?  Just wanting to make sure that all of the facts are out on the table in front of us so that we don't waste time arguing over mere opinions........

EXPLANATION:

1.  Because HDN came out trying not to lose, i.e., to give up a turnover, determined to run up the middle, afraid to let Gus and Mustain do what it takes win big games, and determined to prove he his top hog we went through almost an entire half before he finally let Gus have enough freedom to get us back in the game.

2.  Because our defense can only hold back a good team so long when having to deal with the HDN offense going three and out on the first two series.  Then it appears that Gus was given some freedom and we started to move.  Slowely over the next few series Gus was given more and more control, but by then it was too late and he could only do so much with Casey Dick.  It was like trying to kill a gator with a cane pole and Gus deserves AC of the year for doing as well as they did.

3.  Anyone that is a good poker player saw HDN's tell on the sidelines in the first quarter.  CBS showed him after Florida scored and he had his classic "Deer in headlights" look.  Someone should really try and get a screen capture of that to display on the board.  It was amazing and very telling.

4.  Because HDN spotted a BCS team 10 points before we even started playing offense and was so slow to give Gus control that it cost us another 7.

5.  Because Casey Dick should never have been given the starting nod.

6.  Because our team should have had more confidence for having beaten LSU and a chance to play for the National Title, but they didn't for all of the same reasons previously mentioned.

7.  I could go on, but that should be enough.

As with any game there are lots of reasons why you win or lose, but anyone that really knows the game understands that those that are winners elimnate more of reasons for losing than their opponent.  Most are done well in advance of the game through preparation, study, practice, descipline, positioning, planning, etc.  HDN made decisions weeks, months, even seasons ago that are costing us games, but most people only remember the last series of plays at best or the best and worst moments.  The big plays are few whether good or bad, but the little things that HDN has been doing wrong for years are many.  There are consequence for these many years of bad decisions and it has a name, Mediocrity.   :razorback:

Nutt didn't have time to work on an offensive plan for the game.  He was too busy thinking of ways to screw with an 18 year old quarterback.  That kind of vendetta takes a lot of emotional energy you know.
My sources are unreliable, but their information is fascinating.

Correction on reason 3 for all you "Nutthuggers".  I meant to say second quarter.  Again I hope someone that Tivoed this can get a screen capture of HDN on the sidelines after they scored.  Please post it regularly if you do.  It says it all and could become the banner for "Fire Houston Nutt".

Hey Jonas_Quin.  Seriously, that is one of the best game break downs I've ever seen.  Excellent job.

Houston Nutt had nothing to do with this loss tonight all GUS and REGGIE FISH

The head coaches job is to make sure our players know what they are supposed to do in certain situations.  Fish should KNOW now that you don't field a punt inside the 10 yard line, ever!!!!  That is his position coach, Shibest and his head coach, Nutt's responsibilities.

I have never see a team that doesn't know what to do when their initial game plan go awry.  Saturday night was a sad exhibition of a sandlot game for Arkansas to try to run trick play after trick play.

Dick hasn't been the same the past several weeks....if Nutt has a "quick-hook" when it comes to his quarterback, why hasn't he "quick-hooked" Casey for Mustain......or at least given him a shot???

hog gone it

if HDN was training lassie, she would be sh^tting in the house in less than a week

1 of 2 things will happen in the next few weeks.

1.  Nutt will go on his own to NC State or Bama

2.  Gus leaves and Mustain goes with him to UNC.

I'll put 2 dollars on it.  Not playing Mitch for more then 1 play was ridiculous and a big F U to the program by Nutt.

The only reason Mitch was in is because Nutt new they were going to have everyone in the box, and there was a chance Mitch could fumble!
You have got to be kidding me.  Unless I am just misreading this, this is the dumbest thing that I have ever read.  I hope this is supposed to be layered with sarcasm.  Are you telling me that Nutt put Mitch in there b/c he was hoping that Mustain would fumble?  Absolutely the most ridiculous conspiracy theory I have ever read.

and when mitch was not playing good, where you crying take him out?

How about this...Mitch steps up like a man in the off season and wins the starting job. If you are this big time blue chipper then win the freaking job outright. Next season have a little poise about yourself and never show that deer in the headlights look again like he did this yr. Mitch had some good games but never a great one. Let the young man prove he's going to be great by actually beating someone out in the spring.

Mitch maybe would have done better than Dick the other night, but it was not a slap in his freaking face like it was said on the radio this morning to go into an SEC Championship game as a true fresh and run a red zone play that you scored on against USC. The last time Mitch threw a pass in a game was an overthrow to a 6'6" all SEC wideout with nobody on him. Get some of the boy out of you, toughen up in the off season and go win the starting job and put the team on your shoulders. That's what Parade All Americans do. Nothing should be handed to him. Maybe he would have been better than Dick the other night, but it would not have made a difference in the game. The people who think so are just kidding themselves.

I couldnt have said it better...I totally agree. This is what every Mitch Mustain fan should realize. I was always glad we got the kid but ever since i saw him play in that high school all-star game I wasnt fully impressed. Everybody wants to just hand Mitch the QB job when he hasnt earned it. Beating out Robert Johnson and a not healthy Casey Dick does not earn your the starting QB job outright. He'll be fine as long as he turns it on next season.[
