How good can we be if Kingsley just plays like Portis did over his last 3 games?

I realize that Portis still put up good numbers in those games, but he was not anywhere near as efficient as was earlier in the season.

There is no reason Kingsley can't rebound as well as Portis did and he is a better rim protector.

Of course, if Qualls also declares, then it gets more complicated.

But I think that Kingsley can be good enough for this to be a tournament team again next season.

If qualls stay we are a tourney team.   Kingsley is a diff player but I see no reason he can't get 7-8 pts and grab 8 rebs with improvment and more mins.  Certainly a better defender,  I think it really comes down to our PF play more than kingsley. If kapita or somebody can provide scoring there we will be a good team still

If he plays in the non-numbers ways like Portis, it would be a huge step forward.

Last year, Kingsley provided some exciting defense, but was very much a feast or famine defender-- and when he was bad, we looked *very* bad.   If he can eliminate the errors, and play like the coaches want him to play, he doesn't have to replicate Bobby's numbers to help us out a great deal.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Moses could be at least a 9-10 ppg, 7 reb, 2-3 blks player if he can handle the increased minutes and remain out of foul trouble.  It depends partially on how much he improves his defensive decision making and what our staff asks him to do defensively.  Put him in a position to succeed instead of fail on the defensive end.  Let him be a post defender.

Our guards should have an impact.  Will Beard and Whitt be better on the ball defensively creating less need for help to stop drives or hedging on screens?  Moses picked up a lot of unnecessary fouls far from the basket these first two seasons. Offensively, how effective will they be at breaking down defenses and getting Moses easy looks or putbacks when his defender has to help off?

This is what I am hoping and I think that Moses can do. Expecting him to replace BP statistically isn't realistic, but this team went to the SEC final and won a game in the tourney without BP's best statistical games.

If Kingsley steps up mentally, and Qualls does come back, then this team has a realistic shot at being in the tourney again.

I think Kingsley will be much improved, but I do not think we need him to replace the production that BP brought. I think we need Kapita, Thompson, and Kingsley to do it collectively. This team still has potential to be good. This big piece is going to be Qualls.

I know we are looking to the frontcourt because of the loss of Portis.  But I think it is going to be how much Beard improves and how much of an impact Whitt can have that will go a long way to how successful the season is whether Qualls returns or not.  If Coach A has consistently good guards who can play on both ends well, there is enough athleticism and size in the F's to be good enough complimentary players.

Beard has to learn to defend while fouling less.  Durham needs to give us more.  Whitt has to bring some scoring and defense.  The more we have to play Bell or Hannahs the bigger the risk that our defense will be poor and we will lose in the trade off.  This is where having Babb could have helped.

It will be interesting to see how Mike brings along Whitt.  I'm sure once again, our rotations will vary greatly until after conference play starts.  Hopefully he'll find a better balance of offense and defense.

I agree it will be a collective effort. Hard to know how good we can be until we know what Qualls decides and who the other two players we are going to sign.
