No doubt, can't believe it's even being debated. I guess they figure 7-6 is a half game over .500?

I understand I was wrong now, however the thought process that lead me there was that 1 game is the only difference between us going 7-5 vs 6-6. In that context 2 games over .500 doesn't make sense. That said the definition of "games over .500" is what it is, I'll own being wrong.

How many of you people that are bitching were going to take 1/2 a week off work and drive to Charlotte or Nashville? Not many  I  would bet. At least the Liberty will sell out and is on a Saturday when people can get to the game. I once thought of Memphis as trash until I moved here 3 months ago. I live downtown and love every minute of it. Great food, professional teams, nightlife,  and casinos (if you are in to that)
Stop your crying. I'll take Memphis over Nashville or Charlotte (puke) any day of the week.
I would've gone to Nashville at the drop of a hat. I've passed through there and thought it would be a fun place to party at. Memphis? No thanks..I love Tunica but not really looking for a gambling trip at this time...ill pass when they email me.
Thanks for the F Shack.

We could've lost to Mizzou and would still be in the exact same boat bowl wise. Let that sink in lol.

I just think it's a shame considering how strongly we finished the season.

I got ya, no worries. You admitted you were wrong, that means you have 95% of us on here beat in terms of character.

Hawgphish

must admit I am not excited about the K State matchup.  And I noticed a few repeat games.  Ole Miss and OK State is a rerun too.  With all the bowl teams, why can't they come up with some intriguing pairings.  Oh Well.  I'll be there.  Go Hogs!

It's all about looking forward vs backward.  You can't be 7 - 6 on a 12 game schedule.  So there is a one game difference looking back to being 6 - 6.

But if you are 5 - 5 looking at a team who is 7 - 3 with 2 games to go you've gotta win 2 games to catch them.

arcowboy

Hey, this gives all those fans that want games in War Memorial , so they don't have to drive so far, a home game.  Plus Liberty Bowl Stadium is only place in the world that can make War Memorial look like Jerry's World.  Be sure and take warm clothes, ice scrapper and a 9mm.

My money says we drew the Music City and JL and BB turned it down, due to the matchup with UL. Can't really blame them for that.

Wish I could be there to attend the game, instead of over 4000 miles away.  Should be a good game between two teams more closely matched than some might think.   GO HOGS!!

Why?  Why is everyone so damn enamored with the equally crappy Music City Bowl?

MushroomCloudHog

In 2009 we were 7-5 (3-5 SEC) and ended up in the Liberty and finished 8-5. In 2015 we are 7-5 (5-3 SEC) and headed to the Liberty. Bad home losses kind of cancel out some big road wins in my opinion. On the bright side....and it is bright....at least the team dug themselves out of the hole and are going bowling. I know when we were 2-4 (0-2 SEC), I didn't think there was a chance at all that we were going to a bowl.

Bill Snyder is regarded as one of the best in college football.  He has dealt with as many injuries this season as we have, perhaps even more injuries to key players than we have (it seems like Snyder has lost 2 QBs to injury this season).

Snyder's Defensive Coordinator, Tom Hayes, will probably be the most experienced Defensive Coach that Dan Enos has faced.

To see what Tom Hayes is capable of, just have to look at our offensive stats against UCLA in the 1989 Cotton Bowl (Hayes was the UCLA DC).

Disagree. This game will suck. K State is horrible having to have miracle wins against Iowa State to even be here.

Everyone likes talking about the myth of how Bill Snyder is some genius. But for a genius the guy doesn't have that great of a bowl record.

'93 Copper Bowl, W
'94 Aloha Bowl, L
'95 Holiday Bowl, W
'96 Cotton Bowl, L
'97 Fiesta Bowl, W
'98 Alamo Bowl, L
'99 Holiday Bowl, W
'00 Cotton Bowl, W
'01 Insight.com Bowl, L
'02 Holiday Bowl, W
'03 Fiesta Bowl, L

Before his first retirement he was 6-5. Just above .500. His record after he came back.

'10 Pinstripe Bowl, L
'11 Cotton Bowl, L
'12 Fiesta Bowl, L
'13 Buffalo Wild Wings bowl, W
'14 Alamo Bowl, L

After he came back he's only won, one bowl for a record of 1-4. For a total of 7-9. Stop sandbagging, Don't by into the hype. K State are slow and small. This will be a win for the hogs.

I'm wrong every day of the week and twice on Sunday and I've already hit my quota for the day.

At least, according to my wife I have.

You know the weather forecast 26 days out? You should be working with NASA or at worst the National Weather Service. There have been many  days in this region with temps in the 50's and 60's. Just because the E Carolina game was cold several years ago on that one day does not mean the temps will be identical.

I guess it's better than being sent to the Carquest Bowl.

How many were going to the Outback? Arkansas never has traveled well to Florida for bowl games. Just a fact. Liberty will be a sellout. There's more Arkansas fans at Outback Steakhouse tonight in Rogers than there would be in Tampa.

Not true.  It has depended on the situation with the Florida bowl.

I would have just I have attended Florida Hog bowls before.
Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

Because they won their last five games against opponents with a combined record of 18-42.

On a personal note because I think it would be fun to hang out in Nashville for a few days...hanging out in Memphis for New Years, ya I don't think so.

But for our purposes that would be embarrassing if Bielema and Long were too scared to play Louisvlle as he suggested. I'd be surprised if that were the case.

And I think you would be wrong, if I understand how tie in bowls are determined the SEC could do that but not CBB

I don't believe that but who knows...

greenEGnHAWGS

Ummm...do ADs pick and choose what bowls their school goes to? I know they have to "accept" the bid when offered, but do they pick the bowls? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see how this is JLs fault...
Did they get you to trade a walk on part in the war, for a lead role in a cage...?

Nissan Stadium/Nashville
Liberty Bowl Stadium/Memphis

I will be in Memphis regardless, but really?
There are fans and there are supporters. The latter carries the weight.

GuvHog

I feel much netter about the Hogs going to the Liberty Bowl now because LSU is going to Houston and not getting a better Bowl than the Hogs. I would have preferred an opponent other than KSU but it is what it is.
Bleeding Razorback Red Since Birth!!!

So by this logic Hog fans should just not go to Memphis? I mean that way we won't be attractive to that bowl.
I also disagree with your thoughts on the Outback Bowl, but you're entitled to your opinion.

I'd much rather play Northwestern than Kansas State. I don't think we've played Northwestern before, we just played old man Snyder's team a few years ago.

Meh for this Turd Bowl.

Myself, and every other person on here knows you bitch about every topic and every situation. Most negative person along with bigbadhog on this site.  I'm not shocked, nor is anybody else.

flynhog

6 weeks ago you all would have jumped at the chance for the Liberty Bowl.

I was at the Toledo game.  I am happy with KS State and Liberty again.
Wins are the only things that matter when the game ends.  The mistakes that happen in the game are corrected by good coaching during the week. A season of near losses means you won every game.

It all depends on your taste in entertainment. I too am familiar with both cities. Age could have a lot to do with personal preference.

Peabody is the team hotel.  Rooms are actually pretty reasonable for that hotel while they last at $295 including tax per night.  Got our two nights reserved just now.  She said there aren't many left.  Ready to roll.....:)

Because they finished the season 8-4 and ranked #23 / that trumps a 7-5 unranked team everyday.
Unfortunately, 1 loss really cost the Hogs a better bowl this year.
I know some think we deserved a better bowl game / but a good second half of the season does not negate the lousy first half.
Inside every "older" person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened?
