For anyone else who is a computer geek out there.

I need advice. Should I wait for the RyZen AMD processors that should be coming out or just buy a i7-6700k. I've been going back and forth about it and cant decide.

Good morning HoggusMaximus,

There are those who are much more current that I am with the latest on processor power and chip speeds, but just for the heck of it I'll pose four questions to you that I suspect you have already considered.

  • What are your current needs?
  • What are your longer term needs (3 - 4 years down the road)?
  • Is having the newest edge of technology worth the extra money you'll pay for it?
  • As with anything new where you are among the first to buy, there is always a higher chance of issues (bugs) with the technology.  Are you willing to chance that?

If you add the answers to those questions in your OP, chances improve that an answer will be more useful.

I really don't have a budget for the computer although im trying to keep it under 2000 Mainly for recreation video games and video streaming.

If there isn't a tight budget, I'd go Intel all day.

Right now I've got a GTX 1070 Graphics card and I'm bidding on a i7 6700 I think im going with intel, once I get this rig put together its gonna be a beast.

The 1070 is what I went with and I've been very pleased. I didn't need to shell out another 200+ for the 1080. I think you made the right choice.

Didn't respond to the poll.  If a football coach is responsible for teaching my son morality, I'm not much of a Father.

According to versuscomparison, The main things to consider when buying a CPU are the number of cores needed, what the computer will be used for, the type of software to be run, processor compatibility, and the speed of the CPU.
