Weed killer, fertilizer mixup forces Elgin high school to move football game

Weed killer wiped out the football field at St. Edward High School in west suburban Elgin, so Friday night's football game was moved.

Crews accidentally put weed killer on the field instead of fertilizer, damaging about two-thirds of the grass.

St. Ed's will play at IC Catholic Prep in Elmhurst Friday night.

A decision on future games will be made on a weed by weed basis.

The school's Athletic Director says that this was an honest mistake, & will not happen again. The groundskeeper that made the error with the weed killer has been relieved of those duties & given new responsibility.  He will now be in charge of mixing the Gatorade for the football players during practice.    :)

That'd probably go about as well as the Jonestown massacre.
