Just heartbreaking - and even more so when you read his story.
All his attempts to defect here from Cuba.
Finally making it.
Has a child on the way.
Became a U.S. citizen and really appeared to love this country and just be a guy full of joy.
Sad. Sad. Sad.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Sadly, reports are now saying that he had cocaine and twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

No real surprise as star athletes seem to fall into that trap quite often. Still doesn't take away the tragedy of his death though.

Not just star athletes - how many of us on this board did some drugs, got drunk or both when we were young and then got a car or boat?? Either driving the darn thing or riding with someone just as messed up as we were??
I will confess to being guilty of this stupidity in my younger days.
