especially against a good Dayton team that busted everyone's brackets last year.

I like the line-up change and I think if this continues will make our "second team" be even better once we get into March.

Thank goodness for Bobby Knight.. just kidding Bobby Portis. Love to see him dominate like he did today.  He needs to touch the ball even more.

And to all a good night....

How much did Dayton return off last years squad?

Was a legit question.  I honestly don't know anything about Dayton.  Been traveling all day.  Will watch the game tonight.

Gotta play poised on the road. That's the difference
I have 10 to 12 points to make per game.

Just gotta play on the road.  Gotta bring the effort, period.

Devon Oliver graduated, he was their best player last year but Jordan Sibert is a senior this year and is expected to pick up the slack.  I think they have a good coach and will make the tournament again.

Looks like they have two of their top 3 scorers back from last year's team. Lost 2 of their starting 5 it looks like.

I know it was.  I was just teasing using Joe's response to anyone who tries to ask a legit question.  I think they lost 3 starters.  Per ESPN their national rankings after today's game are:

PPG   213th
Rebounds   146th
Assists PG   134th
FG%   191st

Basically a team we should be by 15+ at home.

I think they lost three starters from last year's team, but they had only lost one game this year, to UConn.

I really try hard not to be a creature of the moment, but it looks to me at least today it did that we move the ball in our half court offense better than we have in years. Wasn't stagnant at all. I really wish we had another three point threat to go along w Bell. Two "shooters" on the floor at the same time would really open up the lane.

No.

Giving their statistical ranks doesn't give much of a context as to the type of team they are.

They're 6-2,  now; they had a Top 40 RPI before the game, and are decent bets to be RPI Top 50 at the end of the year.

This isn't the kind of team we're supposed to beat by 15.  This is the kind of team we're supposed to have close games with, regardless of location.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

They returned 2 of their top 3 from last year.  They've beaten A&M, BC, and gave Uconn a run for their money until the final 6 minutes in there only loss.  They had a top 50 RPI coming into this game, and will be considered a very big quality win after they run through the A10 in all likelihood as a top 5 team.

I'm glad I use simple stats through 7 games to determine my opponents ability.  Now lets look at more logical stats that take in comparison SOS and both ends of the ball.  Their team RPI coming in was 37th.  Their scoring margin difference was 81st by comparison we're 61st.

Rawker

Bottom line:  Good win against a well-coached and statistically solid team (37% FG Def) that has been made into a prestigious basketball name over the last few years, adding to that by being an Elite Eight last year.  According to many Hogvillians, it doesn't matter what the personnel changes were....the coach wins or loses the games anyway, especially on the road.  Given that they had to play an Elite Eight coach, the Hogs played exceptionally well overall, and their half court defense was as good as it's been this year.

yraciv

Bottom Line: Last time Hogs were in the Elite 8, 1995. Dayton had 6 guys on the court tonight that played in it last year.
