Nice last shot play. That can be coached, but is not. Clemson is not very good and we will probably win, but I don't think we learned anything from the Iowa St. loss. That is disappointing. Oh well.

Glad your confident we'll win, I'm not.... from what I've seen these last 2 games, I don't think we are a very good team... nobody can rebound and nobody can hit shots.... I can see Mike is trying to bring Beard along quickly, wish he would do the same with Babb.. Bell is a terrible shooter away from home, as is Qualls.

We gotta play better the second half, we forced a lot of terrible shots.  And can we please get the ball to Portis, he can have his way on these guys.

Need to pick it up these last 4 mins of the half.  Hogs look to be sleepwalking.

I agree, and it ticks me off.  On the road coming off a loss and we come out sloppy, lazy, and lethargic?  Yeah, we probably win it anyway because Clemson is just bad...but we are putting them in great position.

Needs to stop switching picks. Watch the Clemson PG come down the court and because Harris is in the back court pressing he has been covering him. Then their big comes out and sets the pick and we switch. Their PG is either beating Portis off the dribble or getting it to the big on the switch. It is simple...stop switching picks 30 feet from the basket. There is no need. Just go under the pick and have Portis or Kingsley stick with the big.

This is killing us!

Good news is I don't think we can play much worse, and Clemson is playing great for them.  If we just have a half-way decent second half we should win a close one against these guys.

And I'm confused on why we are playing zone and slowing down the game.  Full court press these guys, speed the game up, let's get some easy buckets!  These guys aren't deep or that good, we can easily wear them down.

I'm not confident, I just think Clemson is not good. We are down by 4 after playing so bad, so I'm hopeful. Plus, I don't want the sunshine pumpers saying I'm only negative.  ;)

Bad rotations, lazy defense, poor defensive rebounding, bad shot selection,  few forced turnovers.....

...and it remains a 4 point game.    All in all, sluggish, but very winnable.

And only 4 points from our bench.

Just need to wake up and get going!

I just want to see us come out with some fire in the 2nd half

It is blatantly obvious and yet we are still doing it. Just play them straight up man or zone and stop switching and doubling. We are good enough to beat them straight up.

Hope to see more intensity on both ends of the floor in the 2nd.  We have more talent, but we are not good enough to just show up and win on the road.

At times our offense is like watching a bird with one wing flap around.

I'd rather we came out with some discipline.   Lazy play gets you killed on the road, and there is no shortage of lazy right now.

We don't get the ball to Portis nearly enough;  we play left handed, in terms of how we initiate or offense through the shooting guards.   We settle for jumpers early in the shot clock, that will still be available 30 seconds into it.

We don't even bother to try to close out on shooters, if we get momentarily hung up on screens-- Harris has done this multiple times today, as just one example.

No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. I thought we actually came out with more intensity against ISU.  We played well enough on offense and never gave up.  Even though that game was rather one sided, I was OK with the effort.  We just needed to play better on defense.  Today we are playing with seemingly no intensity.  Against a decent team we'd be way down.  I'll take the road win if we can get it, but I'm very disappointed with our first half effort.

If he'd bother to play inside.

lookawayquick

Hogs lack quickness to play man. Madden and Bell are too slow to be effective man defenders.

He really shouldn't be trying to play inside.  Stick to his game, and make sure he gets the basketball, and we'll be just fine.

Question, Did Portis demand the ball down low at half or did CMA demand that?

He's demanded the ball going towards the hoop.

This is why I don't post much in Jump ball. I honestly don't mean to feel negative about our program.

Nice play by Harris to pick us up defensively.

For all the crap we give him, these are big minutes he's giving us right now.

What VCU and Louisville do doesn't look that different, except that they have been doing it better.  It worked for Mike at Mizzou and UAB, so I don't believe the system itself is the entire problem.  For some reason, we are extremely inconsistent in our execution.

I am always ready for Hog Ball!

The football season has no bearing on my excitement for basketball season to begin.

I know I'm in the minority, but I rank Hog basketball above Hog football every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Has a lot to do with the era in which I grew up, but for me personally there is just nothing better than watching the Hogs run up and down the court!
Woo Pig Sooiee!  Can't wait for the season to tip off.  I'm hoping for a much more competitive team this season.
