The stuff some fans tweet to players is unbelievable. Jim Chaney told me last night that Brandon Allen is the mentally toughest player he's ever been around simply for the way he's able to ignore the daily bashing he takes on his Twitter account.

When said coaches are the highest paid state employees and these "fans" you refer to have invested their own hard-earned money into the program, they have a right to voice their opinions.

That being said, bashing a kids twitter account is uncalled for.

They don't have the "right" to be dicks to college kids and hard working coaches.  That is the problem with college sports today.  We've forgotten that the players are just amateurs because the coaches and schools make so much money.

And most of the fans invest less than $1000 per year.  For that, they get to have a team to be fans of.  That's really about all they have a "right" to.

Can't say I've ever seen a true big money booster, I mean big enough to matter in the day to day operations of the program, ever bash a player or coach on twitter and I doubt they have on this board either.

I am a huge Bobby fan ,but he can't expect fans to heap false praise on a team when they do not play well. If anyone is bailing on the HOGS, get on down the road. We don't need you anyway. Now is the time for Bobby to circle the wagons and use his leadership skills to help regroup the team. It wasn't the fans out there playing horrible defense. Own up to a bad game and be determined not to repeat. Once you lose, you don't want to lose again. We will play harder next time. We can't do anything about the last game; it's gone...... Maybe we can learn from it. We were behind the eight ball from the get. We needed to have played from ahead ,but we were behind from the start. Then instead of chipping back people tried to do things on their own and turned over the ball to put us further behind. It's hard to set up a press off a miss.

I don't think any of them expect false praise after a loss.

I do think several of them expect their feeds to be 50/50 through out a season, but the reality is they see more of a 10/90 in +/- column. 10% praise after a wins, 90 % negative after a loss or poor performance.

Its no different than the traffic of this forum, but on a personal scale via twitter.
