Nicole Duncan, Mary Haff, and Linnie Malkin make their regional HS teams. Not entirely sure what the criteria are here, but nice to see  some of our incoming players get good recognition!

Malkin, in particular, has not gotten a lot of recognition for her play in travel ball (unlike, say, Kennedy Ratliff, who also just won the state championship with her Rison teammates at Bogle), so it's great to see her name on there. WPS!

In addition to her all-region honor, Malkin also picks up Gatorade POY for Colorado:

I assume she also plays on a travel team outside of Colorado?  Could you tell us a little bit about hat?  I just want to know that she hits the ball well outside the rarefied air of Colorado!

Well, this was in Colorado, but considering that Arnold just made the SEC All-Freshman team:

Malkin plays for a fairly "meh" travel ball team; in 2016, FloSoftball ranked their U16 program as the 71st best in the country and their U18 team as outside the top 60, but still among the best in the country.

She has certainly not gotten a lot of publicity and recruiting attention -- a search for her name on FloSoftball comes up empty -- so I'm not under the impression that she is going to step in an be a starter. But it's nice to have our recruits get some attention.

(And for perspective, FloSoftball -- which is considered pretty much the only game in town with respect to prospect ranking that I know of -- had Hedgcock being ~50 spots better than Storms in their rankings. I wouldn't trade either one of them, but ... needless to say, no one's perfect!)

After I reviewed all the Flo soft data before, I wondered if she hadn't faced as stiff competition.  I have no doubt about Haff or Duncan, I just had a question about Malkin.  I think she is still a high quality recruit, but it might take her (or might not) a year to adjust.
