Ragnar Hogbrok

Joined the U.S. Army on 9 July 2002.

Deployed to Iraq, OIF I, as a medic in 1-325 Airborne Infantry Regiment in 2003.

Deployed to Afghanistan, OEF V, in 2005 as the same as above.  Lost one of my soldiers there.  Still haunts me to this day.

2006-  Accepted to the Warrant Officer Candidate School and subsequently Flight School.

2009-2010- Deployed for another year to Afghanistan as an AH-64D pilot.  Killed so many Taliban I don't know the official count.

2012-13-  Deployed for nine months to Afghanistan (again).  Only killed two Taliban.  Hunting season has too many restrictions to make bagging game worth it.

So far, 11 and 1/2 years.  Looking forward to retiring at 20, moving back to the Van Buren area, and working for myself.

Thanks to everyone else who went before me.  Thanks to those who are here with me.  And thanks to those that will come after I leave.

"Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats." ― H.L. Mencken

Hogville prediction formula:

1.  Insert bad news prediction. A loss, a recruit going elsewhere, a coach leaving, etc.
2.  Tag "hope I'm wrong," on the end.
3a.  Enjoy a correct prediction.
3b.  Act like you're relieved you're wrong and celebrate with everyone else.

I hope you don't ever find yourself in combat again Nate, but if you do, safe and happy hunting and keep up that headcount.

This last generation of soldiers has had to give way too much for the rest of our society with their multiple deployments.  I wish they would reinitiate the draft so that everyone in the U.S. understood just what it is our brave soldiers are doing to protect us these days and preserve our way of life.

Many thanks to all that do and have served.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Thank you to all the Veterans on here.
Grew up during the Vietnam era - had lots of friends whose Dad's were stationed at Barksdale AFB and/or in Vietnam.
Saw first hand the sacrifice the Service men and women and their families make every single day.
Thank You and God Bless America!!

25+ years of service to this great Nation and great individuals such as the folks on Hogville. My only hope is that I have made those who came before me proud with my service and actions. They set the standard for greatness and we can only hope to measure up to them and continue their great legacy. My time to hang up the ruck sack is just around the corner, but with the great young leaders in the ranks, we are in good hands.
