have heard a couple possibilites:

- A&M to the SEC
- Ongoing SEC investigations
- Eliminating greyshirting in the conference

Or the one I'm personally hoping for

- he's retiring

Or that the SEC is cleaning house when it comes to officials and are now interviewing candidates with at least a high school education, any level of vision better than being legally blind, and a decent knowledge of the rules of football.

The SEC & NCAA are bringing down the hammer on cheaters:  Houston Dale Nutt is being assigned to Auburn as co-offensive coordinator!

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

True?

Probably, he's accepted a new job as defense counsel for Auburn and LSU - better job security.

It would have to be a flat rate or else some schools would have advantages over others.

To be fair they would also have to pay all student athletes not just football players.

Should be that way yes. But Michael Wilbon thinks only the Football and basketball teams should be the ones that get paid since they bring in the money.

That's not a bad idea.  Make it legal and structure it so the university can monitor the meetings.  No contact with underclassmen, limit # and location of meetings, record the meeting, etc.

What it sounded like was that they are actually going to try and establish the secondary schools as the defacto agents.  It seems like a end run to cut out agents.
