it's still only spring but the OM fans are already buzzing about Rader's apparent lack of involvement in the offense.

Those that have watched scrimmage say Nutt is the one coaching the QB's and that Rader is not noticeably involved.

They have also brought up the fact Rader has not been interviewed once since practice started to give his thoughts on the team.

We've seen this show before and why no one besides Dave Rader wanted that job.

He's just drawing a paycheck...

Sounds like Nutt found his ideal offensive coordinator. But don't worry Ole Miss fans, when Hootie has the Webels in 3rd and 15, he'll ask ol' Dave to call the plays. Congratulations to Kent Austin.

Hawg Balling

You can tell who the real OC is when the camera pans to Nutt and he's not only holding a gameplan but calling in the plays.

Coach Rader better bone up on his 3rd and "longer than smoke draw" play book.

Dwight_K_Shrute

Ole Miss fans will truly see what a great coach he is now that most of Danny Ford's, Ed Orgeron's recruits are gone.  And now that he ran off former university QB great Joe Ferguson Ken Austin, and no longer has Texas QB, Clint Stoerner Jevan Snead.

The similarities between the first two years at the two schools are frightening.  Here's guessing the rest of the tenure will be about the same as well, except not as long.
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

RE Dave Rader....holding clip board and wearing headset > selling sectionals.

I would gladly take the job that dave radar has.....seems to me that all he has to do is show up on the 1st an 15th to get his paychecks.....I don't seem to find the problem...

Even a deaf mute could have seen that coming w/ that hire, but OM being OM is the proverbial ostrich w/ the head in the sand. Hell, we published the book and gave them the ending but they continue to fail miserably at reading the ending.
Have you ever listened to someone  or read what they put into thoughts and wondered...."who ties your shoelaces for you?"

Who needs an OC for 6 plays? Rader will get fired when everything goes down!

jgphillips3

By their recent standards, they have had two excellent seasons.  I'm just curious to see how many seasons with less than 7 wins it will take before they run him off.

Good news -

When this season stinks, and their QB play is atrocious, HDN will announce that he's taking offense back over.

"Boy I tell ya, Yancy, we expected a little bit more out of Coach Rader.  I look at the seniors and it breaks your heart to see them have such a tough season.  Tough season.  We appreciate what Dave tried to do here, but feel like it's time to get back to doing what we do.  When I'm sitting in the living room with grandma and all the family - ALL the family - I want to look them in the eyes and tell them we're going to take care of their son.  I couldn't do that this time.  Couldn't do it.   I want to thank Dave for his time here.  I've got a guy who understands the system and has worked with me a few times in the past.  A few times.  Ha, he's running the Wild Rebel over there in Miama rat now.  So I'm reaching back out to him to bring him back into the fold, Yancy.  Bring him back.  Like Bo and Luke sliding across the hood of the General Lee, that's how he'll slide back into the offense.  The General Lee.  Ha.  I think I just came up with the next big thing in college football again.  Just makes my heart smile to think of sitting in the living rooms with granny and telling them about the Wild Rebel and now, the General Lee.   Shake-n-bake m@€&% f^~&er.   And I'm out."

Who is spinning? No interviews?

OM fans realize that Nutt is the OC with some input on game planning from Markuson & Rader. We are fine with that. Dave Rader was hired to be a QB coach. That's what he is doing. He is tutoring the young Qbs on mechanics and such. He is Co-OC in title only. That title was for pay scale. This is pretty common in college football. In one of the articles below, Rader states that he was hired to coach QBs and that he is the third option in play calling behind Nutt & Markuson.

Hoops, you are dead on. Except you forgot, "Rebel fans need to just hang on to that rope for a LITTLE while, so we can get the type of players in our system that it takes be successful. With the early departures of some of our key players and not having any depth, to speak of, behind them, we are gonna ask for all your patience while we put it together. You know when I was approached about this position 2 years ago, we knew it would be a work in progress. Had some players in key positions that helped us get to back to back cotton bowls, but that it not the ultimate goal here in Oxford. We want this to be a special season for our seniors. Those guys have paid the price to have a season to cherish. But this season and next will be when we put the pieces in place to truly have something special.".

It appears the Ole Mrs faithful (including yourself)are accepting what many have told them would be inevitiable when Nutt was hired. It's a slow but very steady process. It's kind of like wading in cold water. It seems ok until it reaches your Nutts (pun intended), but by then its too late.

Great stuff HoopS!

Meanwhie, back in Oz, the Wizard continues his work...

Nathan Stanley continues to get the snaps at quarterback because Raymond Cotton is sidelined with a sore arm. Nutt is obviously annoyed that Cotton has a sore arm, saying he should have thrown more in the offseason to keep his arm in shape and that "you can't win the job in the tub."

http://blogs.clarionledger.com/um/2010/04/08/spring-practice-day-9/

Listen to the man, son, he knows how to win that starters job.  Then call Coach Gundy and see if OSU has any room for transfers this season.

"This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." - Winston Churchill
