I am not a Gus fan and never was, but some of you calling out members of his family (wife), who you only know through a
tape that was very much edited is out of line.  Before posting anything negative about his family you should really know what you are talking about.
you are absolutely correct,  but this will go in one ear and out the other.  they don't care what they say or who it may hurt.  some of the posters who don't care for coach malzahn keep repeating the same false facts time after time.

Middle Tennessee is not a bad team. Yes, it was the team that beat Georgia Tech, and yes, it has got a pretty decent coach. While Middle Tennessee doesn't have the recognition of Louisiana Monroe for example, it regularly surprises with some wins against good competition.

This may be the most impressive win of the day. I'm stunned by the score.

Yes, I'm all on board with hiring Gus today. I don't care who it empowers at UA -- it seems like Jeff Long is able to control power on his own in any event. And no job hopping isn't an issue. Every assistant on his way to the top job hops, and Nutt's insecurities contributed to at least one quick move.

And next year Malzahn will have to replace 21 seniors from this years team. That is AFTER replacing 22 seniors from last year.
That is true and a testament to how well they are retaining players, but they will return more players that played, plus that will add some of the best recruits they have ever had into the mix.

Think they had the fewest returning starters in the SBC (and among the fewest in the NCAA), and next year they will be near the top in the SBC.

I would not mind Franklin,Gus or Petersen.  All 3 are damm good coaches, my opinion is that Gus is the best of the 3.  I don't live in NW Ark so I can be more objective.

Gus Malzahn is a terrific football coach and someday I have the distinct feeling that a lot of Razorback fans are going to regret that he wasn't hired in 2012.
You can count on it! When A-State is consistently ranked higher than the Hogs we're all gonna be sick. That time is coming.

for whatever the reasons alot of people on here are anti- Gus. in my opinion, when a guy is willing to go from making 1 million a year to 500,000 to become a head coach in his home state then that tells me that he is not in it for the money like 98% of them are. everybody should be able to tell by now that Gus is the reason Auburn won their NC. And anybody who says that they won it solely because of Cam Newton should check and see how many super bowls the panthers have won since drafting him and what their record is this year. As far as overlooking Gus for what people are calling "big name coach" and "homerun hire" well if these other prospects who have already proved themselves are such good coaches then why are they looking for jobs. I would much rather take a gamble on Gus or someone like Kirby Smart than hire one of those big name coaches and then have to listen to their excuses when they get to see for themself how hard it is to be successful in the SEC at Arkansas. If Auburn or rather when Auburn hires Petrino we can be pretty confident that he will be sure and make a statement every time we play them and then when they win there next NC we can all watch it on t.v. and think to ourself they might have another crystal football but We got "Integrity" and that is alot more important in college football.

Job hopping was always one of the biggest knocks against Bobby Petrino. I notice that Gus moves even more often than BP does.

Gus --- 4 teams in 7 years or 1.75 years per job average

Every move Gus made was to get him closer to a head coaching job. that should be obvious by the $500,000 a year pay cut he took and the job offers he has turned down since then.

Beating Middle Tenn St is NOT LSU or Texas, !
when you do not have the same talent as you do for a team in the SEC, yes it is the same as beating a LSU or what-ever team.

I was at that game yesterday.  ASU dominated early and went into autopilot.  However... comparing the MTSU team yesterday to the team that knocked off the Ramblin Wreck is inaccurate.  Their defensive secondary had been decimated by injuries and the offense was somewhat pieced together, too.  Every bounce went ASU's way and the MTSU receivers let down their QB.

I loved the passion, tenacity, and coaching style I saw from GM yesterday.  I was very impressed.  I was not, however, impressed with the many missed tackles I saw by ASU's defense or by the misuse of timeouts in the first half.  I realize it all worked out fine and dandy, but those were my two true concerns.

First time I'd ever watched a game in J'boro.  Neat stadium and positive atmosphere, but y'all need to label your concession areas better.  Fat boy needs to know which line is serving bratwurst.

The concessions and the bathrooms are the two biggest complaints from ASU fans. Both areas need huge upgrades. We are hoping that will happen along with the new complex that is to be built in the north endzone.

Looks like hog fans would know better than anybody after this season you just went through that no team runs on auto pilot. Nothing but a bunch of haters and that is why the hogs can't win the Sec much less sniff a nc.

I'm glad you have some passionate fans ASU, and maybe you can rub off on some people and start getting more people to show up to your crackerbox in the middle of soy bean world, but hog fans are not haters on ASU. You guys have a couple of sucessful years in the Sunbelt and you come in a hog forum and act like we are jealous of your head coach who bailed to your school before investigations came down on Auburn? IF only we could be so lucky to hire a coach who had Cam Newton for a year and went to Tulsa who always has success and ASU where the last two coaches were enjoying success. This is not a bash on Gus because all good coaches know when to leave and stay, but to act like he should be the head coach at arkansas and is even qualified to coach at any SEC school who is willing to pay 6 million is stupid. He might be one day and if he is and we feel we need him we will see how loyal he is to his home state, but In no way should he even be considered in the top 5 unless we are just trying to save money and take a gamble. I wish you luck ASU may you get all the Arkansas high school hero's that we don't want and let them earn  a college education and have sucess in the sunbelt but this is the SEC and you are little gnats bumping into us bugging us. Go away and go back to your dellusional world in soy bean country. If there is ever going to be a school that even remotley comes close to Arkansas it will be UCA and it won't be for another 100 years. And that is based soley on their location and growing numbers.

The fact that you think Steve Roberts ever enjoyed success at ASU when he never did better than a 6-6 record shows you are clueless as they come. Your comment about UCA doesn't even merit a response.

No what is shows is that only people in Jonesboro care. Nobody else in Arkansas does. That is why you are insiginificant and always will be. If you went undefeated this year and went to a BCS bowl we would all still be talking about who the Arkansas coach is. Now go back to the ASU forum and get off a forum which is called Razorback Discussion and maybe you can find the other 15 people who care about ASU and talk to them about how jealous we are of your program.

The coach at NIU went 12-1, did you want him as coach?  The coach at LA TEch went 9-3, do you want him as coach?  The coach at Kent State?  San Jose St? I could name a dozen coaches at small fbs schools ( small by football standards anyway ) that did well in leagues like the sun belt.  Funny, the only one of them that anyone seriously thinks is candidate for the uA job is Gus.

ok you guys are right. We razorback fans secretly really want to be ASU. At night when you guys aren't on the razorback forum Lanny pulls out black and red indian logos and changes Monday Morniing Quarterback into the We wish we lived in Jonesboro Thread, and the Coaching Search Forum turns into We Love Gus Secretly. You should see it; it is awesome!!! We even drive to Jonesboro sometimes and sit at your guys stadium and just take it all in. Do you guys think you could let us in the Sunbelt and gives us your coach?? That way when we beat Middle Tennessee we could go out to other teams forums when they are having a bad year and tell them how awesome we are??

Sorry, I"m usually not a sarcastic a-hole, I've just read one too many ASU fans on our forum this year beating their chest while we are down this year. I hope none of our fans were getting on the ASU forum when we were going to a BCS Bowl and the Cotton bowl when we were up and giving ASU a hard time. I really don't have a problem with ASU's success. I hope they continue to do well. I honestly think it would be impossible for them to ever be a threat to the University of Arkansas. I don't mean that as a smite as much as I do just reality. I've just read one to many world beater posts from ASU people on a razorback forum and am edgy about it.

Well if were not the ASU fans it would be the UCA fans, that is just part of the price you pay for being the bigdog..

I do appreciate that Lanny allows a little banter to take place here, and most Razorback fans just have a good time with it. If they get tired of it they have it move it to General Sports.

I can't tell which of your problems is the worst. Your paranoia about ASU or your insecurity. Good thing it isn't up to you as to who can post here and who can't. But put this in your pipe and smoke it. You have fellow Razorback fans that are creating threads about Malzahn and ASU both. It is asinine of you to think we (ASU fans) don't have the right to come and discuss it. As if it can only be talked about amongst the hog fans.

And for that matter, very few posters here actually have a right to be posters here. The large majority are only here because Lanny was generous enough to give everyone the "privilege".
