"The Razorbacks come into bowl season one of the hottest teams in not only the SEC but the entire country. If not for a one-point loss to Mississippi State, which ended with a blocked field-goal attempt, Arkansas would have won six in a row."

This is crazy:

QuoteRecruiting concerns: Losing that momentum would hurt Arkansas' recruiting, which hasn't been great this year anyway. The Razorbacks have the 10th-best SEC 2016 class according to 247Sports and don't have a commit yet for 2017. An upset loss when favored by more than 11 would be a big blow.

With 247, at least, we're currently ranked about where we usually finish.  The fact that we have fewer commitments then most, means we have more room to improve then most other teams do.  Combine that with the very real possibility that we could fill out this class with several highly rated players and I don't know where he gets off saying recruiting hasn't been great this year.

Also, most teams don't have commitments for 2017, yet, so that says nothing about how recruiting is going.

Saturday Down South is frequently just... terrible.

That "article" couldn't have taken more than five minutes to produce.

As you stated, Arkansas's recruiting is sitting about where it always is: somewhere between 20 and 30, hoping for a strong finish.

And Kliff?  Really?  Our program "can't afford" to lose this bowl because Kliff might be happy if we do?

Saturdays down south does seem to have gotten a lot worse.  In an article earlier they stated who is the best current NFL player for each SEC team. For us it was McFadden. With all respect to DMac who is having a great season, our best player in the NFL is Jason Peters and it isn't close.

This isn't a bad article and during the slow times for college football it is downright good.  We cannot afford to lose to K. St.  3-6 in the Big 12.  Half the talent we have.  We do need to hold up the SEC and do our part which we haven't done since being here, 20 some years.

I don't expect us to win big and it wouldn't surprise me if we got beat, but we shouldn't.  We should bring K. St. to their knees and win as big as we want to.  I worry about our O-line and are they getting the coaching necessary to hold up their end of this deal.  Our o-line carries this team.  They fail, we fail.

Science Fiction Greg

The article is a joke.  To shut Kingsbury up?  Come on.  Nobody in their right mind is thinking we need to win this game to shut up Kingsbury.

Good lord who cares about that idiot?  Not to get off topic too far, but the guy got "rubbed the wrong way" by something he literally didn't even understand.  Bielema was talking about the philosophy of his play style, not himself or any other individuals.  It makes no sense to get offended by that.  The guy is literally an idiot.

But using him in an article like that is just complete nonsense.  Others have already mentioned more reasons why the article is a joke.

That "article" could've been written in five minutes or less by any casual football fan capable of exercising decent grammar.  I'm not saying it's offensively bad-- I mean, at least it DOES seem to have been proofread, and there are no glaring factual errors in it-- but to say it's "downright good"?

You're either just trying to go against the grain, you don't read much, or you have very odd standards when it comes to what constitutes "downright good" sports writing, or writing in general.

hawginbigd1

KK thing might be a little fringe, but I don't disagree with it! Everything else in the article is spot on! We have the opportunity to finish with a much better class than where we are right now! How would a loss in this bowl affect that? Who knows but it could be considerable! I don't comprehend how a really involved fan would not have all these same concerns!

Losing gracefully isn't taught in second-tier programs. See Arkansas, Cincinnati, et al.

Did they hire Robert Shields?  Jesus, that was terrible.

The article may have been terrible, but your comment, good sir, was not.  +1

Color me surprised Hogville doesn't like an article that doesn't sugar coat the Hogs.

With loses to Toledo and TT - what do you think the national narrative will be if we lose to a bad KSU team?

To me the article was simply a ho hum article during a very dead time for college football. The article was ok but nothing earth shattering. If you think you can eat some soup and do better than start eating.

Geez some of you act like the guy wrote about your wife or mom. At least the guy has the balls to do what he wants to do and write. How about you sitting on the sidelines taking a shot at him. Man up and start submitting articles to some of the sites - lets see how you do.
PonderinHog: "My mother gave me a framed cross-stitch picture that reads, "You can tell a Hog fan, but you can't tell him much.  Go Hogs!" It's a blessing and a curse."  :razorback:

Klamath River Hog: " Is your spell check made in India?"

Yawn.....you could copy and paste that "article".  To any favorite in a bowl game.

Exactly. A yawn article during a yarn period for football.

If there is a team that Bielema won't let the team sleep-walk for, it is a Bill Snyder coached team, no matter how bad they may appear to be on the surface. Snyder is a sly, ol fox and he knows how to coach and prepare a team. They'll show up for the Liberty Bowl with an enormous chip on their shoulder.

We "should" beat them in a dominate fashion. If we play as we are capable of playing, we will. But take them lightly or turn the ball over and give them a few breaks and K-State will be in our face all afternoon.

I just hope that if we get a considerable lead that we don't slack off and start shutting it down out of Bielema's respect for Bill Snyder.

lol, what a pile. This game will be over by halftime.

I'm not sure by your reply if you read the article or just posts in this thread. "Over by halftime" is the reporters point. You lose to a team that you should dominate and you will pay heavily for it.

Especially on Hogville.  ;D

Fortunately no one on here is coaching the team. I think you got it right this team can beat us if we try to sleep through it. Snyder is a fox.

I just hope we hve a led, much less a big one.

Snortingred1

This will be a win in a dominating fashion, but Bret isn't going to run the score up on CBS.  Now, if the running game starts scoring at will, then we'll see seperation.  This won't be a blowout with more than 250 yds passing.

So everyone one of the nationalized incidents were justified? There is no race problems with policing? If that is what you believe.....well bless your heart, it must be hard going through life with the obstacles you must have to overcome. Do they send a bus to come pick you up?

Well, at least we know where Shields "honed" his writing skills or lack there of.

HotlantaHog

It would be a great way to send out the seniors with an 8-win season and would provide lots of excitement to the mostly Arkansas fans in Memphis.

Arkansas looks like the better team (by far), but it is not a disaster if the Hogs somehow lose. Means very little for next year -- since there will be a meaningfully different team in the spring and the fall. The effect on recruiting should be very close to zero.
