To take care of academics.

You mean college students are suppose to take care of classes and studies? Imagine that!
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

Sounds like a simple "get your head out" reminder to keep a couple of guys in line and focused on off season priorities.

Porked Tongue

Early attention getter.  Class just started.

Likely an attendance issue.

Imagine a coach getting guys attention for academic reasons.  Novel concept that sets him apart.

You'd think O'Grady would be minding his P's and Q's for his best interest

Grammar police:  THERE (a location). -  "get their heads on"  THEIR is possessive (something they own).  No charge this time.  Always try to act like you've been there.

You're just a peach aren't you? Between you're indignation over CBB flying over 20K miles to recruit for the Hogs and being the grammar Nazi,  your awarding winning personality and self righteous style and decorum  is off the charts.  #dontbelikeLRAFBHOG
Have you ever listened to someone  or read what they put into thoughts and wondered...."who ties your shoelaces for you?"

Early morning Boot with our Strength and Conditioning Coach  and escorted to class what they need and I expect they are getting.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Might be Jojo 2.0. Sucks because he's really really talented
"If I can't practice, I can't practice. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that at all. It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about practice. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that?

Well it is, indeed, a very novel concept for many a coach. Can't even imagine how much so.

Affect is present tense and effect is past tense as a rule of thumb. ;D

To take care of academics.

College for most freshmen boys is very difficult in keeping their priorities in order.  Freshmen all over have this trouble. I bet the drop our rate for the general freshmen population for boys is close to 50%.  So many parties to attend, ladies who need your attention and just hanging out with your buddies.   Sports require so much more of your time and then when you apply school you only have limited time at nights and on weekends to spread your wings.  If we can get our Freshman adjusted to the time management priorities of studying and football then it gets much easier for them after that first year.  Coaches have to stay on top of this like any good parent.  They have to take away privileges and what ever it takes to get them through the early years.   It gets easier but they just don't understand that yet.
