Same lineup that we used against TN, with Storms in the circle (a trend, for sure).

Hiers - C
Russell - 3b
Schroeder - RF
Cooper - LF
Belans - SS
Canfield - CF
Diaz - 1b
Warrick - DP
Yannetti - 2b

First pitch at 2 pm CT.

SLU is having a so-so season thus far, sitting at 11-10 overall. They are on a 5-game losing streak, which includes a couple close, extra-inning (one went 13!) losses to Memphis, who we beat earlier this season. A lot of their games look like they were close, but their best opponent so far this season (until today) has probably been ... I dunno? Memphis?

This is a game we should win, I think, if we are not looking ahead to Kentucky this weekend.

T1

Hiers walks to start things off.
Russell moves her along with a nub ground out to P, runner on 2nd, 1 out.
Schroeder K's looking. (I think she is officially no longer on fire, offensively. Seemed like a long at bat, though.) 2 down
Cooper pops out to pitcher.

Top of the order coming up to face Storms. No score.

B1

Storms K's the leadoff hitter, swinging.
2-hole hitter walks.
3-hole hitter erases her with a double play ball, 6-4-3.

Due up for the Hogs - Belans, Canfield, Diaz.

Still 0-0.

T2

Belans grounds out to SS, 1 down.
Canfield grounds out to P, 2 down.
Diaz works a walk.
Warrick also walks, 2 on, 2 out for Yannetti.
Yannetti pops out to SS, ending the inning.

Three base-runners, all on walks, but no hits the first time through the lineup.

Due up to face Storms - 4-5-6 hitters. Still no score.

psycHOGlogist

B2

Clean-up hitter grounds out to 3b.
5 hitter lines out to Cooper in left-center, 2 down.
6 hitter hits a come-backer to Storms, 3 down.

Not much offense in this game so far! Through 2 - no score, no hits.

Top of the order coming back up for the Hogs.

psycHOGlogist

B3

Hiers gets our fourth walk of the game to start off the inning.
In a show of small ball, Russell hits sac bunt to advance Hiers, 1 down, runner on 2b for Schroeder.
Schroeder grounds out to 2b, but Hiers advances to 3b, 2 outs.
Cooper flies out to RF, again stranding Hiers.

Bottom of the SLU order due up to face Storms.

psycHOGlogist

B3

7 hitter grounds out to Belans, 1 out.
8 hitter strikes out, looking.
9 hitter strikes out, as well, but at least she took a swing.

3 up, 3 down for Storms again. Still no score.

Due up for the Hogs: Belans, Canfield, Diaz.

psycHOGlogist

T4

Belans grounds out to 1b.
And there it is - we have a hit! Canfield singles up the middle. Runner on 1b for Diaz, 1 out.
Diaz ends the scoring drought with a HR to left center!!  2-0  :razorback: s
Warrick grounds out to SS, 2 down.
Yannetti grounds out to 3b.

2 hits, 2 runs! Good guys ahead 2-0.

Top of the order due up to face Storms.

psycHOGlogist

B4 -

Leadoff hitter gets a bunt single, runner on 1st, no outs.
SLU goes small ball, 2 hitter sac bunts runner to 2nd, 1 out.
3 hitter grounds to 1b, 2 outs, but runner advances to 3b.
Clean up hitter grounds to Storms to end the threat.

Still 2-0  :razorback: s.

Top of the order coming up for us in T5.

psycHOGlogist

T5

Probably tired of walking, Hiers grounds out to SS, 1 down.
Russell hits a soft grounder toward 2b and beats it out for a single, 1 on, 1 out.
Russell steals second, and then advances to 3b as the throw leaks into the outfield. Runner on 3rd, 1 out.
(Like to see them take advantage of Russell's speed when they can.)
Schroeder walks. Runners at corners, 1 out.
Cooper comes through! Doubles to right-center, scoring Russell and chasing Schroeder to 3b. Runners 2/3, 1 out. 3-0  :razorback: s
Belans singles up the middle, Schroeder scores, but Cooper thrown out at home. 2 outs, Belans on 2nd after throw home. Score now 4-0  :razorback: s
Canfield K's, looking, to end the inning.

Last two innings a little more like it - first the HR and then the back to back hits for some runs! 4-0  :razorback: s.

SLU will send up the 5-6-7 hitters to face Storms.

psycHOGlogist

B5

5 hitter lines out to LF, 1 down.
6 hitter pops out to 2b, 2 down.
7 hitter -- a .167 hitter -- homers to CF. Ouch.  :razorback: s still up 4-1. (Apparently, Canfield almost snagged it over the wall.)
8 hitter reaches base on an error by Storms. Ugh.
Storms appears to be frazzled.
9 hitter doubles, runners at 2nd and 3rd, two outs.
No more damage, though, as the leadoff hitter grounds out to Storms, no error this time.

Through 5, Hogs still up 4-1.

Due up for Arkansas - bottom of the order: Diaz, Warrick, and Yannetti.

storms is still a freshman.

Absolutely - important not to forget.

T6

Pitching change for the Billikens. They have two pitchers with sub 3.0 ERA's. They started one, and this is the other.

Diaz lines out to CF, 1 out.
Warrick grounds out to 2b. Not a memorable day for her so far.
Yannetti turns over the lineup with a double down the RF line. 1 on, 2 out for Hiers.
Beringhele PR for Yannetti on 2b.
Hiers singles to CF, and the speedy Beringhele legs it home.  :razorback: s back up by four, 5-1. Hiers on 1b, 2 outs.
Russell hits a sharper ground ball to 2b, and they get her, ending the inning.

5-1  :razorback: s.

Due up for SLU: 2-3-4 hitters.

I keep thinking Yani will come out of it and hit like she started the year.  Maybe that two out hit and one of the hits she got in the Vols win will help.

You have to hope - she hit so well during her freshman campaign during the SEC season. Would love to see a return. Also very happy to see Diaz park one. If she could get on track, it would be great!

B6

2 hitter grounds out to Yannetti, 1 down.
3 hitter reaches base on an error by Russell, runner on 1st, 1 out.
4 hitter singles up the middle, runners on 1st and 2nd, 1 out.
C'mon, defense.
Wonder if Storms is tiring. 5 hitter singles to RF, bases loaded. 1 out.
Next batter grounds to SS, only play is to 2b. Run scores, unearned, on FC RBI. Runners at 1st/3rd, 2 outs.
7 hitter grounds out to SS.

Still up by three, 5-2  :razorback: s.

Due up for Arkansas: Schroeder, Cooper, Belans.

psycHOGlogist

T7

Schroeder grounds out to 3b.
Cooper tries to bunt her way on, but is thrown out by P. 2 down.
Belans works a walk. Runner on 1b, 2 out for Canfield.
Parr on to PR for Belans.
Canfield gets her second hit of the game (yay!), runners at 1st, 2nd, 2 outs for Diaz.
Diaz ends the inning with a pop out to 2b.

Still 5-2  :razorback: s.

SLU will send up 8-9-1 in the bottom of the 7th. Last chance for the Billikens.

psycHOGlogist

B7 -

8 hitter grounds out to 3b, 1 down.
9 hitter grounds out to P, 2 down.
Leadoff hitter keeps the Billikens alive with a double to left center. Runner on 2b, 2 down for the 2 hitter.
2 hitter lines out to Yannetti, and that's the ball game!

Storms goes the distance, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, only 1 of which was earned. With the W, the Hogs move to 22-6 on the year as they head into Lexington for a 3-game set this weekend.

WPS!!  :razorback: :razorback: :razorback:

psycHOGlogist

On the negative side - two errors for the Hogs' defense. Have to improve on that. Can't be sloppy in SEC competition.

flippinhogmana
