Garland only had 12 pounds points for Parkview before he fouled out. But Parkview only shot 18% from three pointers, and I'm sure Garland put up several of those misses. I never really saw Ethan Henderson, but I didn't start watching it until the 4th quarter.

The player that stood out the most for Parkview was Javon Franklin. That kid is a baller.  He finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  His name came up frequently and he was always around the ball, always involved with the play someway.

Henderson only played 11 minutes, non factor. You'd think with as much talent as they have, they've win going away, even with first game going into OT. Good to see Hall ball out though! And maybe we'll have a spot for Franklin in 2 years.
Mills HC is very good and is a much better coach than Flannigan at this point.

coach, my back hurts

I watched the entire game.  Garland had and impressive fast break dunk and Hall hit a 3 pointer all within the first minute probably.  I really like both of their games.

Both totally different skill set.

Garland has speed, length, good ball handler, good leaper, and a smooth shot.  I would feel comfortable with him playing the 2.  Hard to get much of gauge because Parkview, imo, plays terrible basketball.  Whoever had the ball shot the ball.  I think Garland was just trying to play the game the right way and find better looks for his teammates only for one of them to throw up a sideways shot hitting the side of the backboard, if it hit anything at all.

I really like Hall.  The kind of the player that quietly gets you 10pts and 10rbs.  He didnt do anything flashy, just a smart player that was all over the boards and the floor.  More aggressive around the blocks.  Had a lot of rebounds, but dont recall any blocks.  Shot good from 3, i think he made 2 or 3.  Shot free throws well.  I think he'll be a 3, maybe a 4 in certain lineups.  Not the leaper or the height you would want as a 4, but i think he'll rebound well, and he plays bigger than 6'6.

If you could combine Thompson and Watkins and make a player i think it would be Hall.  I dont think he'll ever do anything flashy, but i think he'll play smart and play hard.

Overall was a great game to see a lot of future Hogs play.  Henderson maybe played 5mins.  Thats kind of worrisome for being a top 100 jr.

Said all of that to say this......Javon Franklin is most explosive player Arkansas basketball may have ever produced.  His head was around the rim about every time the ball got near the rim.  Had 5 or 6 dunks and probably that many more blocks.  An unbelievable athlete and if there is anyway this kid gets to Arkansas, we'll immediately be a better team defensively, rebounding, and blocking.

Looking forward to watching Gafford vs Sills tomorrow and then Northside and Isiah Joe.

We will miss on a good one if we don't get the Franklin kid.

Hawg Red

Franklin is going JUCO due to grades. Otherwise, he'd have a pretty good offer sheet. I hope we somehow have room for him in 2019 but that will be a tight squeeze unless Justice Hill reclassifies to 2018. Tight squeeze anyway, really. Good news is Arkansas is producing some real talent and we need that to survive because we are not in a great natural recruiting area like most other SEC schools.

Thanks for eval. I hope Hall can develop into a 33-36% as least in college. Will make him a far more versatile player. Sounds like he is a true 6-6. As far as Garland, hope we can develop a shot as well. Sounds like he is quick and explosive but needs to polish his skills.

Agreed Franklin is legit.

Henderson barely sees the floor for Parkview and ends year averaging 5 pts, 3 rebs and not trusted to play final minutes even after Garland fouled out. how is he supposed to be a top 100 player again?

Hall looks like the better player than Garland, looks smart and long. Garland will need to develop a good 3 ball to contribute much I think. Franklin looked electric, if he develops a decent 3 ball might be a Qualls clone. would love to add him

Henderson is rated so highly because he plays really well in the summer. Also PV should have rolled everyone in the state but they are terribly coached.

well I guess my question is why does he make zero impact on his HS team and isn't seeing the floor even after a bigger player fouls out? is their coach that awful that he won't play a difference maker? if he's truly a top 100 player, he should get minutes on a high school team

klp1

My take on PV is that they have a lots of talent but no pg...no leadership...  Seems every player with the ball was looking  for his own shot rather than setting up teammates.  The ball didn't move much in the half court.
Franklin & Garland seemed to score off run outs,  individual one on one stuff,  or offensive rebounds. Not from any type of offense. PV should tried to get them the ball in a position to score

Mills played more as a team. Hall was quietly impressive ( I've only seen clips of him so far) he shot great from distance, rebounds and handles the ball very well.  I was most impressed with him getting defensive rebounds and then leading the break.
He and Garland will definitely get some minutes next year.  They will fill a need that this Razorback team hasn't had

BBHog

I watched the entire game.  Loved Hall's game.  He was definitely the best player on the court.  Every bit of 6'6", super long arms, very nice form on his shot, always played under control, great handles.  I thought I had remembered people talking about his athleticism but he didn't display a ton of that last night.  He's just a player.

Javon Franklin is one of the most explosive athletes I've seen, I'd say even more so than Qualls.  He had such a huge impact on the game in the paint, on the glass, and defensively.  With that said, my guess is he has no mid-range or outside game.  I don't think he took a single shot outside of the paint.  If he could get eligible he'd definitely be worth a scholarship, but he needs a ton of development.

I watched the whole game. Came away very impressed with Darious Hall's complete game.

But the #1 thing I got from that game is we have GOT to find a way to get Javon Franklin in a hog uniform someday. He may be the most explosive athlete I've ever seen

Porked Tongue

Flanagan is so overrated.

He swings that towel around and brags a lot but generally underachieves.

He plays post, is no more than 6-6 200. Not many skills besides amazing athlete. Anyone with knowledge says he's Juco bound due to poor grades.

What he said. Likely headed to juco. Hopefully he keeps the right people around him and does what he has to do and maybe one day be a Razorback.

His athleticism makes up for his lack of overall basketball skills because he uses it. He's very active around the basket rebounding and blocking shots, stays in attack mode on the offensive glass. I disagree with the folks who act like he just doesn't have basketball skills at all tho. Rebounding and defense is a skill and anyone with even the slightest knowledge of basketball knows that

Really? I mean the guy has won like 7 state championships and probably 500 games. This years team had weaknesses they weren't great outside shooters and they didn't have a true point guard. Outside of that this team was loaded but when they played good teams that played defense they got exposed. I'll admit they were the favorite this year but those who knew about Mills knew it would not be easy. Just have never heard of coach with so many championships being called overrated.

*On a side note Hall moves like Todd Day except he has a bigger frame. Very smooth athlete.

orgkeith

Mills was the best team in 5A wire to wire.  Parkview was extremely lucky to beat them in the regional.   Mills missed a ton of freethrows to lose that game.

RealHog

I know this is an unfair expectation, but I hope Hall can develop into a Sindarius Thorneell type player for us. Athleticism, handles, shooting, rebounding, defense. A solid SF for his career here. Side note though. Thornwell was a top 50 recruit out or HS where Hall only got into top 150 late. Never know though.

I've only seen him coach the past few years but his teams do not look very good when they play well coach teams that have a few athletes. PV is very long for an Arkansas HS team which allows them to get away with their pathetic offense. Plus they have two of the most athletic HS athletes in the state and they are both 6'6+

Hall is about 2-3" taller than Thornwell. I expect Hall to be a very good 4 year player for MA.

He can't coach, he just usually has more talent. Coleman at Hall isn't much better, really devoid of coaching with all that talent in LR.

Production in high school and in college are two different things. Henderson projects to the SEC level.
