Extra Galloping Out?/

Right as the horses were about to go in for the 7th; it was announced Balandeen was going to be allowed by the stewards to gallop out extra after the race.  I haven't heard of this before but to announce as they are about to go in... that doesn't seem right.  I didn't bet him and he was coming off a layoff from route races and you could guess that the connections were using this as a prep race for an upcoming route race.  That kind of announcement screams that we aren't really trying in this race; its more of a workout.  I was lucky enough to have the late Pick 3.

Does this seem right to not know of it until they are loading or is this common practice?

It was total BS. It should've been announced at 12:30. I didn't bet the horse either but think of the people that might've singled this horse. They were basically told "the horse you singled is using a stake race as a prep for another race"...sucks completely
