Let me ask a question, and I'm being serious because I haven't followed basketball in a while.
Is this game a good measure for how the Hogs look night in and night out?

It should stop all that "Fire Stan Heath" nonsense I've been hearing....

Why would it stop it?  Because of one game??  Just wait, they will lose one they were supposed to win to balance out this win that they were supposed to lose.

I have no problem eating my crow because I thought there was NO CHANCE for them to beat Bama, but please, don't act like you knew they were going to beat Bama by 30.

He did not say that they would.  He talked about the FIRE HEATH garbage.

Stay on task.

Did Arkansas will the national championship?  Geez.  You wouldn't know that they beat a crappy team by the way they're all in the stands swaying and locked in arms.

LOL we're not that great of a team and we have a PITIFUL coach

Well, we are celebrating a return to traditional Hog style basketball :)

Don't put your team down too much.  Played an unimpressive pre-season schedule which I don't think did much to prepare them for conference play.  Playing Mizzou, TTech and Texas cost the Hogs but I do think (maybe) we've learned from it.

But with the $$$ you're paying Saban, I think you're stuck with your coach for awhile!

There were probably a couple of thousand empty seats, but probably not from here on out, as everyone jumps on the bandwagon. I have never seen a team jump on the opponent like the Hogs did today. It was almost the 10-minute mark before Alabama got what I would consider a decent shot off. Amazing.

Hopefully our win isn't overshadowed too much by the DUke and UCLA loss. .hopefully espn makes it 'a day of top 10 upsets' and talks about arkansas...

i think we will be ranked. anyone else?

It should be close. I thought about that also, we might sneak in top 25

I think 62 is the number--'bama isn't going to get that high today.

Uh, nice call...  Bama scored 61.

Bomis Hawg

Arkansas won't go from zero votes to top 25 after this win alone.

this is what happens when you move on offence & defence!

HeathWimp

I'm the first to admit when I'm wrong.

Congratulations to Heath and the team for a great win!

Heath will have to keep it up for a while before I change my handle to "HeathStud" - one game does not make a season.
11/19/2023:  Keeping my original semi-prophetic, apocalyptic signature below.  We continue to regret passing on Norvell, who is in the running for the Playoffs.  We continue regret passing on Kiffin, who is eyeing a New Years 6 game.  Heck, we regret passing on Drinkwitz (he may be a dork, but he will have his team in a New Years 6 game after they truck us on Black Friday).

Meanwhile, Sam is drinking Pittman, wondering if he has the leverage to re-hire Enos, Sexton is doing the triple Lindy into his Olympic-size pool full of cash, and thousands of hog fans are planning to dress up as empty seats for next year's Halloween game.

11/25/2018:  My original "Chad Morris" signature is below.  I'm modifying my view as follows:  We will continue to regret passing on Norvell and Kiffin.   After 3 years, when Morris is 10-26, we are going to be saying "What were we thinking?  Even Bert was better than this!"

chiefsfan

That was the most boring basketball game that Ive ever seen.   Yawn

I was very scientific with that.  'Bama had scored 15 points in the first 7 minutes, so I figured they'd get around 40 for the half.

And very lucky!  :)

No, it doesn't.  It's nice to be able to enjoy one as much as we hated the Mizzou or TTech game (it was Mizzou I hated most, though), but I'll need to see that it was as much the Hogs being in sync as it was 'Bama being horribly flat.

Florida will be a good test--I don't expect a win on the road, but some of what we did today could translate to it being interesting.

I think that WVA keeps winning helps.   They should move up into the Top 10 this week, and that's a win that looks better all the time.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I agree, but we'll be back in the "others recieving votes" category.  We need a big road win to push into the top 25 *nudge nudge*.

It's very possible that we will go into the top 25.  Early in the bball season a team with a good record who knocks off a top ten team will move into the top 25.

It may be short-lived, however, if we can't have a repeat performance against Florida on Tuesday night.

Bacon out...

only problem is, Duke lost and UCLA lost, so their 'winners' are getting the attention and the poll spots that might otherwise be reserved for us.

i still say 22-32 though... 12 wins at thsi time of year (we've played more games than most because of orlando) looks good

Don't forget #22 Notre Dame got spanked today.  At least it frees up a spot.

Dwight_K_Shrute

It's nice to see several basketball threads on the front page and for this thread to have 19 pages.  It shows if Stan can put a consistently good product on the floor and get quality wins the Hog fans will come back quickly and in droves.

Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Starved for success.  Pretty much everyone here remembers the glory days and know that it's possible to have a dominant hoops team in Fayetteville year-in-year-out.  There's hope again.

Don't adjust it, you can't mess with the streak.  You've got to respect the streak.

Hey everyone they are showing the highlights on ESPN!!!

Bomis Hawg

UCLA lost to a top 20 team.  Dook lost to a Va. Tech team who lost to SIU and WMU in Orlando and Marshall on the road.  They won't SNIFF the top 25.
