Heading on a road trip to visit a grandson stationed at the NAS at Pensacola.  Taking a slow trip back stopping in Biloxi for a couple of rounds.  First play is The Grand Bear which we have been to several times and like it.  The second is Shell Landing.  We were scheduled for this one once but were rained out so have never been on it.  Thoughts on the course?  Appreciate the input.

I'm just guessing here.

Dillar...What do you think about The Bridges? I really liked that one too.

It has been several years though.

It's a good course.  A lot of goofy holes but it's fun.

I liked Shell Landing ok. Thought it was fine.
This was about 2009, I think.

Preserve was good but tough. Maybe because of a howling wind that day.

Loved Grand Bear.

Thanks for the ideas.  We're talking about the Preserve idea so we'll see.  This will be our 5th time down there.  Great area for spring golf before things get rolling up here.

Fallen Oak is the best course in that area.  Its a Fazio design and part of the Beau Rivage casino.  One of my favorite courses in the world....

It's good but it is absolutely 100% not worth what they want you to pay for it.

I think it cost us $450 for two nights stay and one round of golf.  Didn't seem bad.  And the service at the course is unbelievable.  All around good golf experience I thought.  But the other courses might be cheaper, I dunno.

Dillar Dog

Right.  The service at the course.  That's where they make you forget you're just playing a golf course.

It's nice, but it's not what they want you to pay nice.

Fair enough, we can agree to disagree.  Price doesn't really play into my consideration when rating a course lay out, condition and design.  I'm sure the OP will enjoy any of the courses mentioned thus far in that area

Dillar Dog

Layout is just ok.  Condition is as good as any other course in the area if they haven't lost their greens like they did right before the champions tournament a few years ago.

I'm with Dillar Dog, I'm usually all about the course and that's it. I'll carry my bag, clean my own clubs, walk the course if possible, load clubs in the car, etc. It's all about how good the golf course is.

Fallen Oak is very nice. Very solid Fazio track. It probably deserves the accolades it's gotten as a golf course.

Well the trips over.  Played Grand Bear first day and it's as I remember it.  Well kept, good service and presents a challenge without being impossible for the golfer a bit above single digit handicaps.
Greens were quick but not fast and ran true to what you saw.  A number of greens has some subtle breaks right at the hole that were tough to pickup on so if you didn't have speed on the ball you would see your putt slide to one side or the other.

Then the next day came Shell Landing.  Love the lay out of the course and the generous use of traps.  Greens were a bit faster than GB but in winter condition it was near impossible, at least for us, to hit anything under a 7 iron and expect to hold it on the green.  The down side to Shell Landing is they are obviously having some budget issues.  Carts, gas, have to be at the end of a long lease with tears in the seat corners.  SL's cart paths are concrete and I can't recall more than a handful that didn't have broken up squares some of which you had to slow up for so as not to jar the cart and clubs too much.  Too  bad because it really is a nice course and to have these kind of issues.  Oh well.
