Just seems like a lot of leading indicators are in our favor.....tons of SC injuries....staff starting to figure out the team after the customary 4-game evaluation period....our running backs are getting better.....Williams will have an axe to grind....we have blown them out at their place on multiple occasions in the past.

Just seems to me like we might get off to a quick start against Carolina, and actually be able to maintain the lead.  Just a feeling I have.
11/19/2023:  Keeping my original semi-prophetic, apocalyptic signature below.  We continue to regret passing on Norvell, who is in the running for the Playoffs.  We continue regret passing on Kiffin, who is eyeing a New Years 6 game.  Heck, we regret passing on Drinkwitz (he may be a dork, but he will have his team in a New Years 6 game after they truck us on Black Friday).

Meanwhile, Sam is drinking Pittman, wondering if he has the leverage to re-hire Enos, Sexton is doing the triple Lindy into his Olympic-size pool full of cash, and thousands of hog fans are planning to dress up as empty seats for next year's Halloween game.

11/25/2018:  My original "Chad Morris" signature is below.  I'm modifying my view as follows:  We will continue to regret passing on Norvell and Kiffin.   After 3 years, when Morris is 10-26, we are going to be saying "What were we thinking?  Even Bert was better than this!"

I agree.

But I also wouldn't be surprised if we lose by that amount.

We haven't blown out many SEC teams at their place, but I think we have done that to South Carolina than anyone else.

If there's one thing we've been under CBB, it's inconsistent.  We're going to play some good games this year.  I see no reason why this couldn't be one of them.

+1 for being so positive.   I will admit I'm not as hopeful but I appreciate those who are.  #WPS!

At least this is before kickoff.  If we win, tomorrow you'll see a lot of posts that are goalpost moving.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. I think that feeling that most of you have that we are going to win is part of an underlying knowledge that if we don't win tomorrow we are likely not going to a bowl game and in a spot where things could go down hill really quickly.

Because of how the first 4 games have gone and the next 4 we have on the schedule, tomorrow is the biggest game of the season and possible of Bret's tenure here as it concerns his job.

Care to expound on all their injuries? I'm curious..of course I know of them losing their top WR. What else do they have going on? I also heard a rumor their qb was out but I would wager that is homer spin.
Thanks for the F Shack.

Carolina has 2 starting OL out along with their top receiver. O-line is in a very similar shape as ours, but ours wasn't caused by injuries! Which defense gets the better pass rush tomorrow likely wins.

Na not really. This is a game we have to win if we are going to get to 6 wins. We are favored by 3 points now. This is a must win considering the October stretch.

Their OL is beat up and will miss two of their top wide receivers

Offensive linemen out
Cory Helms and Malik Young and
Zack Bailey "is doubtful at best,"
Also out
Wide receivers Terry Googer and Deebo Samuel

We will still have to deal with their QB Jake Bentley who is fine and does a great job along with their monster TE ‎Hayden Hurst

I feel like this game will turn out like our 2015 game against Tennessee

I am cautiously optimistic and agree with the OP that we will win except I think we'll take 'em by 7

I haven't seen anything from the Hogs in the past two years to make me think they have the mental tuffness to go into an opposing teams stadium and play mistake free football.  They also lack the killer attitude to blow out an SEC team.  We may win the game but we will likely play down to the level of our competition and give them several chances to get back in the game.

The way things have gone thus far this season virtually NOTHING would likely surprise me.

Potosihog

All this talk about Williams having a huge game may be spot on.  However, that is the kind of thing that seems to always happen "to" us instead of "for" us.  Seems like our guys in these situations usually try too hard and fumble 3 times.

Whereas the player we refuse to sign comes in and puts up Heisman worthy tape for one game.

Al Boarland

I think we pull this one out. Optimism creeps and gets shattered for the next two weeks. The season will be about how the team responds to getting beat soundly two weeks in a row.

HeathWimp

For what it's worth, I didn't think Bielema was a good fit for our team (see my post predicting a 3-9 season back in 2013), and think a change is needed.  But I have a feeling this might one of those "it was our day" type of games, kind of like Mississippi State last year.

To have any chance of winning this game the Hogs will have to score points in the second half. The defense will need rest in the 3rd and 4th quarters. That means the Hogs has to establish a running game to keep the game cocks offense of the field.

jgphillips3

This is the most winnable SEC game on our schedule all things considered.  You can say Mizzou, but they can score and will catch us, most likely with nothing to play for but a win (like last year) so I'm hesitant to say they are more beatable.  Win this one, and we will be 3-4 in two weeks.  Lose this one and we are 2-5.  We aren't coming back from that.  I'd say CBB will coach like his hair is on fire and we win today.

That's an interesting opinion. There aren't really any indicators it's close to true. They have one of the top defenses in the country and ours leaves a lot to be desired.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Nothing changes.   That's the thing about fixed points-- the people who get up in arms about losing should then have no reason to be up in arms-- it would be performing to their expectation.

A simple litmus test is this;  if a result should naturally increase the number of people who agree with you,  and that number either remains flat or decreases, the posts are moved.   You won't see that with an Arkansas loss, but may very well see that with  20 point Arkansas win.
