Who could have we got at this point in the year that would be a better hire?  This is much better than bringing in a mediocre coach in and giving him a 3 year contract.  We weren't going to get a home run hire in April.  This is a hire where a coach with coaching experience and is okay with a 1 year deal.  This gives us 6-8 months to make a good hire.  This is a lot better than hiring a Tubberville, Fulmer, etc for more than a year.  Jeff Long was not faced with many choices and I think we made a good choice.  Saying that the next hire has to be a home run though.
