I'll put this here instead of making g a new thread....

Scouting : Ross Weiner

Weiner is a big right hander. But he isn't going to light up the gun. Admittedly, there wasn't a ton of video on him, but his fastball tops out at 88 and he struggled with control.

He does have an average break to his breaking ball and will throw a changeup.

He doesn't have great stuff so he will pitch mainly to contact. He does have a heavy ball at times and will induce a lot of ground balls.

The hogs will need to be patient at the plate and work the count in order to be successful. We should be able to work the count in our favor and be able to hit the pitch we want, instead of letting him dictate. If Weiner can get ahead in counts, it could spell difficult for the hogs.

Just a note since it will effect our rpi all year. Our first opponent Miami-Ohio has lost the first 3 games of a 4 game series against South Florida this weekend. Game 4 is underway today and they trail that game as well. In the first 3 games Miami scored a combined 5 runs although 2 games were 1 run losses. I'm going to start a thread later to keep up with past opponents on a weekly basis.
