Quote from: codeHog on Today at 03:59:35 pmCan the major league draft be messsing with the minds of any SEC baseball players?

Are some feeling the pressure of only having a few more shots to impress the scouts?

It absolutely impacts some players. Slavens is a notable one that struggles with it.  DVH made numerous comments about it.

Quote from: Walter Sobchak on Today at 04:33:33 pmso I'll dumb it down for you. There are two separate levels. One is the P4/5 vs G5 level of conferences. The other is the level of competition. He stepped down in level of competition. That's inarguably true. That's the level being talked about. Not the level of conferences.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't the ACC pushed the SEC more than any other conference? The answer is yes. As far as the team goes I don't see SMU losing to Liberty, N Texas, WKU, San Jose St etc..

Quote from: incHOGnito on Today at 04:08:41 pmYes. They would, but I think it is a real thing.

I am thinking Diggs needs to concede that he may be back next year and just relax.

We have a great pitching staff, but they are pitching on a knife-edge, knowing that they can't give up more than a couple of runs if we want to have a reasonable chance of winning. I think that is probably weighing on them as well.

Our lineup also tends to make the other teams Saturday and Sunday starters looking like Friday-night guys.
I think the last two games amplify why you don't sacrifice defense for marginally better hitting w/this pitching staff. CF/LF mistakes cost our pitchers 5-6 runs.

Quote from: pigroots on Today at 03:17:16 pmMy guess is the they are looking for a certain pitch in a certain spot and if it's not there, they let it go. That's sound baseball.
Did anybody hear A&M's coach during yesterdays in game interview? He has same philosophy, if it's not your pitch on a 0 strike count, don't swing.

Quote from: bennyl08 on Today at 04:13:17 pmIt is objectively down a level.

Final top 25 2023

BIG 4 Teams

SEC 6

ACC 4

XII 4

PAC 3

2022

BIG 3

SEC 6

ACC 3

XII 3

PAC 6

Doesn't look objective to me ACC every bit as strong as XII or BIG

Well, people on here whine when we swing at the first pitch too. I told someone awhile back 0-0 is a hitters count and they replied "it was a selfish hitters count." Doesn't really matter what we do.

It's moneyball. Drive up their pitch count.
That's what Brad Pitt said.
