SPAL

I will update this thread with pics and notes from the scrimmage today. If anybody else makes it out, come say hello.

flippinhogmana

thanks brother, SPAL, I suppose you are going to give us some sort of player eval too, hope, hope?
Like the erstwhile Clark Kent, my true identity is shielded.  I am an author, Nathan J. Allison is my pen name.

SPAL

I'll do it but it will be later.

SPAL

Isaiah Campbell on the bump for the cardinal team....

SPAL

#7 grounds to ss and can absolutely fly. Error on the SS gets him to 2nd

SPAL

I don't have a current roster....#5 up, Cody scroggins with a blast to the gap. Plates #7, I'm assuming Simms. Dude can fly

SPAL

SPAL

SPAL

Jack Bennighoff with a nice single between ss and 3rd. Scroggins scores...2-0 grey. He has a nice compact swing.

SPAL

SPAL

Bernal up with 2 on and 1 out....Campbell has some nice offspeed stuff.

SPAL

Campbell also has some pop. Strikes out bernal....shock....on what looked like a splitter

SPAL

Campbell hitting 91 on the gun

SPAL

SPAL

Walk issued....sporadic and wild right now.

SPAL

#8 lines out to SS

BONFIELD up now

SPAL

I will try to fill in the blanks on these names later

ucahogfan

#30 is Hunter Hart.  He is a Sophomore JUCO transfer with some talent.

#7 is Simms just like you assumed.

#8 is Eric Cole.  A freshman with some potential and a lot of speed.

Campbell hitting 91 on the gun
This is encouraging to see.  He topped out at 89-90 in high school, but is a very young player and has the size to throw in the mid 90s during his time on the Hill.

SPAL

Walks the based loaded....thanks UCA. MUCH aporeciated

#30 is Hunter Hart?
According to the roster that Scott7703 posted in the fall ball thread.

SPAL

SPAL

Slow hit ball to first, can't turn 2...run scores 2-1

SPAL

SPAL

Tucker pennel walks. 2-2....

Switching sides

SPAL

Bennighoff is a vocal leader....has the look of a stud.

19 , a lefty up now
Austin Catron.  Junior JUCO transfer.  He was one of the new names I had never heard of.  He is a switch-hitter.

howie76

Thanks spal...made me smile reading this!!+1 as always

SPAL

Once Campbell nails down his control, he can be a nice addition. Nice fastball, good offspeed.

SPAL

SPAL

SPAL

Simms....he is going to excite. Just legged out a bunt that was put in no man's land. He CAN FLY

SPAL

C-span squared one up but just can't buy one. Sac fly

SPAL

Simms, Bennighoff, spanberger from left to right in the of

SPAL

Hart is a little guy. Maybe a buck 60. Throws a little 3/4 arm slot. Nasty changeup for a swinging K the. Hits the next guy

SPAL

Silky at first, Nomura and bernal up the middle

SPAL

SPAL

Closer look, he may be about 180...

SPAL

Drew Tyler at SS for the red team.

SPAL

Jordan Rodriguez on the bump now. Anitger small guy, a lefty....comes from a 3/4 slot.

SPAL

He is an offspeed guy. Crafty as they say

Interesting to see this alignment in the OF.  With our OF all leaving from last year, all three spots are open.  I think Benninghoff and Bonfield are two guys who will start out there with the third spot being open right now.

SPAL

Kyle pate in for the gray squad

Gonna be hard pressed to keep Simms out. He ran down a tough fly ball with ease that would have likely been a hit

SPAL

Grant koch with a hard hit ball that ate bernal up. Was a tough play....I. Scoring it a single

SPAL

Pate with a little sink action gets the DP

SPAL

Pate still struggling with control. When he dies find the zone, it is high. He needs to get it down or he will get killed.

SPAL

J rod is all junk all the time. Strikes out silky on a curve ball that he was way out in front of
