Just heard they are vacating wins from that season. Was that the year they beat us in the trny?

USC tries to avoid the hammer, by imposing pretty strict self-sanctioning here.  It's unlikely that it will  be enough, though.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Wowowow.
The 2007-2008 season, vacating 21 wins, lose scholarships, have 1 less coach out on the recruiting trail, and no post season games after this season (including the PAC 10 tournament.)  That's tough

No.  We lost to them the year before Mayo went to USC.

They also cut 1/5th or so off of the recruiting calendar, which essentially means USC just tripled the length of a dead period in recruiting where other teams will be after the guys they have targeted.  There are two ways to look at that-- either they were self-serving and paired this with a self-imposed scholarship penalty, because they now believe they'll have a harder time signing a full contingent, or, that it will also hurt the quality of the recruits they bring in with fewer slots.

When the NCAA brings down formal results, the penalties will be supplemented; the situation is going to be somewhere between Baylor and Kentucky, in terms of severity.
