florida is (as usual latley) UNDERperforming.  hogs so farwith fortson are 1-2, with those 2 being close losses to good teams (including now #1 texas).

who do y'all see winning

Jacob "2 Scoops" Johnson

If the team hustles like they did in this game, I see a 10 point victory. FLA is stuggling, and we might be hitting our stride. MIGHT. But, I do belive this game is very winnable.

It might not be easy. But, if our team is going to go 0.500 in conference and get an NIT bid, then we will need to beat UF next week.

Yes, we CAN. But will we?

ErieHog

I don't like our matchups with Florida's guards, at all.

I think Florida comes in, controls the boards, and wins by about 12.   Keep in mind I'm one of the people who thinks this team isn't that bad,  but Florida is a bad set of matchups for us.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Keep Welsh on the bench, feed Powell, and kick Fortson in the butt every time he turns to streetball. Do that and we can take them.

That's the most positive post I've ever seen you make. I will acknowledge this with a well deserved +1

Depends which UF shows up

if they miss a lot of those 3s they love then we can win

Will the pupil beat the mentor? Should be interesting, but I don't like how well the Gaytors shoot the three ball
I'd rather be dead than be a Vol

We can win this game.  We are just going to need to put forth maximum effort, esp of the boards.  I honestly think this is a 50/50 game in my book but I would be ecstatic with a win making us 2-1 with a close loss in conference.  Now Kentucky is another issue.

If Fortson can stay between Walker and the rim and someone can contain Boyton we have a chance.

Britt's job will be to contain one of these two.

Britt can contain Boyton.   He has the size and quickness to give Boyton fits.

Boynton is also a freshman, so Britt being a lot more experienced will really be to our advantage.

True.  Plus its at our place.     Powell and Washington will have to keep Tyus off the boards too.

Should be a fun game to watch.

They have good guards, but I think we win that matchup. The biggest thing will be which Washington shows up. Is it going to be the same one that got double digit boards and was hustling to block shots? If we dominate the boards like we did today than we won't have a problem. I am more worried about their size with Parsons, Tyus, Macklin, and Werner than I am worried about their undersized guards that rely on the three.

But have you noticed how many teams come in an have a "record night" against the Hogs? I am talking going back for years and years.  50% ft shooters going 12 for 12 at the line, players shooting just 4 threes all season hit 6 against us.  Vanardo getting a triple double and we lose by 2.  I am not saying it is coaching OR player's, it just seems amazing how many times someone who is not that productive just goes off. ???  That being said, If we play like we have been lately, we should win at home.  GHogs.  :razorback:

We beat AL with just 1 day to prepare (and recover). Having 4 days to get ready for FL will be a plus.

Defeating Florida next Thursday will go along way for making me think that this team will at least be decent.

When is the last time we've won 2 conference games in a row?

What do you consider decent?

We have to win 9 SEC games to have a winning season.

elksnort

'Decent' is certainly relative. From what I have seen since January of 2009, the Razorbacks winning 0.500 in conference and a good chance at an NIT bid.

Keep in mind, the above is the minimum. Anything less, then....

I will be pleased to see the team be mediocre, because of earlier this season, I figured even worse.

I think it all boils down to confidence. Neither florida or arkansas are very confident teams in th efirst place but both teams REALLY lack confidence on the road. That is why I think we win. If we played in gainesville I think florida wins. I think our ENTIRE season will go this way. I think we have a chance to win all home games and lose all road games. We might lose one at home and then again could steal one onthe road at either LSU or georgia. Who knows with young teams that lack confidence.

Florida will play a big part in our confidence for the rest of the season.  If we come out and equal our win total from last year within the first 3 games of the SEC, I say we have a much better season.  If we lose a home game early on... I'm not really sure.  It most likely would rattle them, but these guys sure fight 'til the end, and have done so all season... not just after a win, so they're really sort of unpredictable.

Like most recent games, we, like their opponents, will zone Kentucky, but Florida shoots the threes so much, a zone might not work, if they are hot.  So if we play man with Britt and Fortson taking Florida's guards, who does Clarke take?

Dwight_K_Shrute

Are the guards the problem or will it be their big guys.  I think we usually strugggle with bigger guards and that does not seem to be the case with FL with one 6'2 and one 5'8.  I'm more worried about having a 3rd big guy to throw at them.  Do we still start Britt or go with Bryant or Johnson to match up size wise.  I think with Fort, Clarke, Wash, and Powell we have enough offensive weapons.
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

florida is lucky they win any games, we'll win. donovan blows.

I hope we can finally beat somebody on ESPN. Over the last couple years ESPN has not been good to us except for the Texas game last year. Hopefully we can get a win on national tv.

jkstock04

If I were gonna put money on this game it would for sure be Florida.  I've seen Florida play....and I've seen the Hogs play...guys there is absolutley no contest.  Ya'll are absolutley kidding yourselves if you think we can perform at the level they do.  We DO NOT match up well against them.

Be ready for another in the L column Thursday night.  I'm amazed people are setting themselves up for dissapointment here.
Thanks for the F Shack.

Wow. Would you care to show whywe don't match up well with them?

jkstock04

They are bigger than us...they shoot much better than us....and are coached much better than us.  Upon watching the Florida Kentucky game....I came away very impressed with the overall athleticism of both teams.

I won't be surprised if we lose this game by 10-20 points.  What is your prediction?

I agree with what was written there.

My prediction is I don't know right now. I think, at first, I expected to lose this game but now I think it is a possible win. Just not ready to make it definite yet.

We have always seemed to play florida really well, combine that with the fact Florida is struggling of late, rebounding especially, I think we take this game.
If memory serves me correctly...I believe Billy Donnovan is 0-2 or 0-3 at Bud Walton (this includes his National Championship team, too).
I thought I heard this somewhere.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Florida is another team that does not shoot well from 3 point range and as
Biggus posted, they tend to take too many of those so your wrong about
Florida shooting better than the Hogs. I watched them play against Vandy
and they weren't that impressive. Alabama gave vandy a much better game
than Florida did.
