Wish they could get a big name game in Verizon and it would sell out especially on a Saturday.

Troy and CSU bakersfield.  Neither really move the needle for me, and I'm not sure if they will really help our case come end of year.

Hogs already have their toughest non-con slate in years with the PK80 tourney in Portland, plus MN & OkSt at home, and a road game vs. Houston. These 2 teams had Top 60 RPI (CSU-Bakersfield) and Top 150 RPI (Troy) last year, so if they can both stay in the Top 150 this is very smart scheduling for NCAAT resume.

That is true. I guess Troy just sticks in my mind as being a cellar dweller for some reason.

CSU-Bakersfield was in the NCAA Tournament two seasons ago and just went to the NIT Final 4. Troy had some down years, but they won the Sun Belt this past season and went to the NCAA Tournament. They aren't Kentucky, but they're the type of mid-major teams you want to schedule.

I believe Rod Barnes former ole miss coach is at Bakersfield now.

If they are as good as being advertised, sounds like we may not be guaranteed wins. Don't know what to think about that - might prefer watching teams we've heard of.

3 of Bakersfield's top 4 scorers were seniors this past season.

Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Because the LR game usually doesn't sell out?

Come on man, you already know the deal. Any nonconference schedule Coach Mike Anderson is involved in will never and I mean never be good enough. ;)

Solid additions to what is already shaping out to be a solid schedule for us to make the tourney. Verizon usually sells out, so I don't see that being a problem this year with a couple Central Arkansas boys on the roster.

Thought: Unless Verizon has since added the necessary televised equipment to view games played in this arena what would be the purpose in scheduling a big name, the game wouldn't be televised

Unless ESPN or the SECN picked it up and brought their own equipment.

I like these two games, but it is up to the opponents to do their part and have good seasons to make those games worth anything come ncaat time.
