ESPN 300 commits: 1

Overview: While certainly not a bad class, the South Carolina class is very low in numbers. For comparison, there are 11 schools in the SEC with at least 10 commits including three that have 15 or more commits. The Gamecocks also lost their top commit when ESPN 300 wide receiver Kyle Davis decided to back off his pledge in May. The good news for South Carolina is that Davis is still considering the Gamecocks and so are other ESPN 300 in-state prospects such as Nyles Pinckney and Javon Kinlaw. Three-star safety Marlon Character, ESPN 300 defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson Jr., and four-star outside linebacker P.J. Blue are also top targets for the Gamecocks.

Ben Cleveland, 6-7, 325,Toccoa (Ga.) Stephens County: "Big Ben" is the other cornerstone of the class. He also committed on Dawg Night in 2014 with Eason. The early enrollee will be the blind-side protector that every strong-arm QB needs. The two are already close friends. Cleveland is the definition of a guy to stroll down the darkest of alleys with.

The massive five-star is adept in the classroom and agile enough to play first base for the varsity baseball team. He's generally rated as the No. 3 offensive tackle in America for this class. He also likes to bring deer jerky to camps and all-star games and won't be 17 years old until August of 2015.

There have been reports that Auburn commit John Broussard will attend UGA's "Dawg Night" prospect camp on July 18.

Broussard, a 4-star cornerback from Phenix City, Ala., told the AJC on Thursday night that he's unsure about the UGA visit.

"I didn't really say I was going to go," Broussard said. "I said I may go because two of my teammates are going, and I could probably just ride with them there. I just want to get out and go somewhere."

"I'm not even sure when I'll decide to go. I think Dawg Night is the 16th or the 18th, but I don't even know."

His teammates are two of the Southeast's top 2017 prospects: 4-star athlete Jamal Couch, who is committed to Florida State, and 5-star linebacker Markail Brown. Couch and Brown both have UGA offers.

Broussard says he has an offer from UGA, but he doesn't keep in touch with the coaching staff and can't remember the last time he spoke with anyone at the school.

Randrecous Davis, UGA's newest commit, wants Bulldogs fans to know that they should expect greatness.

"You have another Hines Ward in the program," Davis told the AJC. "I'm going to live up to that."

The 3-star wide receiver from Mays High School, who is famously known for having the "G" tattooed on his left bicep, also plans on adding to his collection of UGA-related tattoos, but he won't be adding anything to his current one.

"I'm not worried about that tattoo anymore," he said. "I'm going to get more Georgia tattoos on other parts of my body now."

Mays High School coach Corey Jarvis told the AJC that UGA coaches plan on having Davis play multiple positions — something Bulldogs legend Hines Ward knows a thing ... about.

Davion Curtis, a 3-star receiver from Texas, has never visited UGA and doesn't plan to until sometime in September. But that didn't stop him from committing to the Bulldogs on Monday.

"The reason I picked UGA is because I love the head coaches, I like the receivers coach, and we talked about more than just football," Curtis told the AJC. "We talked about becoming a man and what I want to do if football doesn't work out."

The speedster from Temple, Texas, committed to UGA over Oregon State and Kansas State on Monday, and says the lure of developing as a wide receiver in the SEC, like former UGA star A.J. Green, was a huge selling point.

"They run a pro-style offense and they bring wide receivers to the league, so, I was excited about that," Curtis told the AJC.

Jaleel Laguins, who is the state's No. 1-rated outside linebacker, committed to UGA over Auburn on Wednesday. But his recruiting process is far from over.

Minutes after verbally committing to the hometown school, Laguins told the AJC that his recruitment won't be over until he signs his papers.

"I don't think it's completely fair to all of the other teams that didn't get to show me their campus and bring me to their campus," Laguins said.

"It's a positive for Georgia that I live 15 minutes away, but it's not completely fair for Notre Dame or Missouri or Oklahoma that I didn't get a chance to go out there. I just want to give them the same opportunity that everyone else had."

Tyler Vaughns, a 4-star receiver from California, committed to USC on Wednesday, according to reports. He announced his decision during a ceremony at Bishop Amat Memorial High School.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound wideout was considered a strong lean to USC along. He was also considering Alabama, Washington and UGA.

Vaughns, who's ranked as the country's No. 2 receiver, has yet to visit any other program outside of USC. That will change...

Bradenton, Fla. — Isaac Nauta, the nation's No. 1 tight end, has named four of his official visits. UGA, TCU, Michigan, and Southern Cal will all get the opportunity to court the former Buford standout.

What about that fifth visit?

Nauta, who transferred to Florida's IMG Academy for his senior year, told the AJC:

"The schools that will probably end up with my fifth official will probably end up coming between Alabama, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State and Oregon. It will between those schools. They all have something different to offer."

Ole Miss was the first school he mentioned. That may not be a slant to priority, but simply because 5-star Ole Miss verbal Shea Patterson is the quarterback at IMG.

Isaac Nauta, the nation's No. 1 tight end, told the AJC where he's at right now with his recruiting process: Its UGA, Michigan, TCU and Southern Cal, plus alo (sic) a school to be named later.

"At this point I still don't know where I am going," Nauta told the AJC.

"At first I was like "Tennessee had offered. Alabama has offered me and why can't Georgia offer me?' because they were the school that was right down the road and I really liked Georgia," Nauta said.

Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU and UCLA had also already all offered him, among others..

"It's really, really cool," said Gators cornerback commit Jayvaughn Myers. "The facility is huge, and it's nice for the football team to have. It's a great look for Florida. They've never had one, so recruits are going to loving seeing it when they come. That'll be the first thing they go check out."

One of those recruits will be Jayvaughn's brother, five-star wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers. Prospects of his caliber are always looking to be impressed when they visit college campuses.
