curious as to your thoughts on this "sprinter."   not calling you out, but just want to know. she just lost a heartbreaker and they were open lengths clear of all the others in the race. she followed up the apple blossom win with a great effort.

"she is bred to be a bad-ass sprinter and if Hartlage would train her to be exclusively a sprinter, she might kick a lot of ass in the midwest.....this two-turn ish is absolutely stupid....if she wins, the field will have to be awfully weak"

"Hartlage, although a very good horseman, has never had a horse supposedly this good and he misjudged her talent....she developed early as a 2 yr old, however several fillies out-matured her from last Fall to this Spring"

"the filly is NOT bred for classic distances...I've said that since day 1....but you keep on betting her going past a 1 1/8th and you'll continue to make excuses as to why she didn't win"

You're bringing up an awful lot of proven wrong quotes not to be calling someone out...

She SHOULD have won!!  My bankrolll says that she should have won

kingoftherapids

she sure should have. what a stretch dual. that was beautiful. both fillies fighting their hearts out. being on the outside of authenticity the whole way around made the difference. stakes record time

if you don't think a Smoke Glacken out of a Gilded Time mare screams sprinter, you my friend dont have a clue....in all of horse racing there are aberrations...this one race proves that On Fire Baby ran what was probably the best race of her life with fractions of 24, 48, 1:12, 1:37 and finished up in 1:44...before you go calling someone out, oh that's right you didn't call me out... she won, kudos to her, but she's nothing special at middle distances as the time proves and she could be special as a 1 turn 7 furlong specialist....I stick by my guns....hindsight usually proves 20-20, so the next time she wins, let us all know its going to happen BEFORE the race is actually ran

ad: from now on, in every graded race run around two turns and beyond one mile...allow me to book your win bet and I'll give you 9-2 every time she runs...after the win in the Apple Blossom, she won't get 13/1 again the rest of the year unless she runs in the BC Distaff, which, after listening to the "Red Dog", I'm sure she'll be pre-entered and if she wins another race this year, he'll be trying the colts in the Big ONE

zenyatta, plum pretty, havre de grace, on fire baby    Your last 4 apple blossom winners. All I need to see.

kingoftherapids

And u really think you know what suits this horse best?   All bc of smoke glacken out of gilded time
...wow that is some good stuff to say about a grade 1 two turn winner. I know u had to cringe the other day when she lost by a head in a Churchill downs stakes record time around two turns

I just don't know why they are running her long....   Her pedigree screams sprint.     On fire baby said to hell with that ill show that I can go long. Congrats to the whole team on another great race.  All I ask you to admit that it is okay for her to go long. Based on both races this year what makes you want to shorten her up?
Legit question by the way. I'm interested to hear the reasoning

so you owe me some money....I said I'd give you 9-2 on every graded race she runs around two turns from now on and that was posted before the Grade 2 at CD..so pay up....so how much you bet at the window is how much you need to send me....PM me and I'll give you my address so you can pay me off

so far this year, they don't have her in the right races? she needs to be in 6f-7f races? i dont understand how you are saying she doesn't belong in 2 turn races when she won a grade 1 and finished 2nd by a head in stakes record time in a graded stakes at churchill. both around two turns and over a mile.

look, she's running well right now, but eventually horses that don't have the blood to run middle to longer distances will eventually have physical problems...its like putting a 411 rear end in a 55 chevy and expecting the car to run 300 miles against a trans am with a 283 rear end.....eventually doo doo hits the fan....admittedly the filly has run two bang-up races, but I'd be very surprised if she continues to stretch out against Graded company without consequences (trust me I hope I'm wrong because I love horses at every level, they give us so much and ask nothing in return)...but her engine and rear end are made to run 7 furlongs....now she may be able to run longer in the short run, but she needs to run shorter in the long run, make any sense ? Why if Red Dog cranked this filly up nice and tight she might even beat males sprinting in the BC Sprint. He'd need Mike Smith on her instead of Joe Johnson in that one, however.

ad: How did you like that 9-2 call on her that I put her odds immediately after the Apple Blossom for the next time she ran...and sho nuff, the gray heffa was 9-2.

1969: I could careless if you like the horse or not,  but I do and have.

My question is though, for as far as this board goes, will you never speak bad or say that OFB should only be sprinting if she wins or loses in a photo to Royal Delta in the Fleur de Lis at Churchill next month?

kingoftherapids

the owners and red dog are hurting the horse by running her long. you know like olympic sprinters should never run 5k's. no matter if they win one or not. they shouldnt be running them because it will cause physical problems later. ;)

OFB may run 2nd, but it won't be close...if the real Royal Delta shows up after faltering at Meydan....yeah, agreed   what will you give up if Royal Delta prompts OFB from the start, draws up to her on the far turn, looks OFB in the eye and then puts her away like Risen Star did the '88 Belmont field ?
