little known QB out of Little Rock Central by the name of houston dale nutt. He "loved that helmet" so much he turned down Bear Bryant to play for Arkansas. He also "loved that helmet" so much, that he bolted for Okie St. the second he found out Holtz was starting Calcagni.

what was the name of the guy who was a fantastic athlete in college and was pushed really hard by his dad and then ended up with a huge drug problem?

Y'all are gonna hate me for this,  but I'm gonna say Cedric Cobbs. 
For 2 seasons we squandered carries on Cobbs that should have gone to Fred Talley.  He was always the better back.

No beatin' up here, I always felt that Talley was underrated strictly speaking from a college standpoint.
I always liked the way he hit the line rather than dance behind it.(cobbs)

I know he isn't the most overrated EVER. He was overrated though. Simply because of the position he played. Wasn't much of a QB. Great player in the wrong position.

Bigred, not on crack but to me, they all did do well in college but didn't do what you would have expected beyond that.  I guess I looked at the q thinking about the draft and who will turn out to not be what we expect.
