Truth hurts, Duke-hater?

I do have antipathy for certain teams;  I don't pretend it is rational though-- I understand what I feel is largely an irrational bias, though I do have structural reasoning for the dislike of teams like the Yankees.

Structural reasoning? So, it is not biased since the reasoning is structured? LOL!

Is there anything rational about the dislike of someone based on sports? Of course not.

We all have our reasons for why we don't like someone or something. Whether they be rational or not is clearly in the eye of the beholder. Hence, your claim of structural reasoning.

I understand why so many people dislike the Yankees. I am a Cardinal fan and I know many Cards fans that despise the Yankees. Personally, I am apathetic about them. However, I don't belittle others because they are Yankee-haters. I'm sure many people dislike the Yankees due to some of the reasons I dislike Duke.

I give you credit for your skills in argument. You have obviously been well-versed in the style. Well, except for the name calling.

Duke-hater. Ouch, that one hurt.

You have a misunderstanding of structural in the context provided; major league baseball isn't a level playing field, and that's by the nature of the market forces at work.  I accept that part of the reason I dislike the Yankees is because of the lack of burdens upon that franchise that often tie down smaller franchises, and the increased margin of error they enjoy because of their ability to squander resources.

Now, it is fair to critique the dislike of the Yankees based upon the belief that an a priori understanding of the structure of MLB should take these things into account, but no similar a priori conditions can inform a rational hatred of Duke.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

My knowledge of Latin is admittedly limited. However, if I recall correctly, a priori can refer to coming to a conclusion through deductive reasoning. Or, it can refer to coming to a concluson without knowing any specific facts, without reference to specific facts, or doing any factual study.

I'll take it you were referring to using deductive reasoning in validating your hatred of the Yankees and your man-crush on all things Duke.

I've really enjoyed bantering with you, Erie. I have to leave now. I have things to do.

Agree to disagree, I hope.
