Not that it's definitely just one job open, but the hottest name is former Drexel/East Carolina head coach Bill Herrion, 46, as discussed earlier on this board.

He's from a coaching family, better known name being brother Tom at College of Charleston.  Their father was a longtime coach.

Herrion's primary preparatory experience was working six years under Mike Jarvis, when Jarvis was successful at Boston U and George Washington.  After that Herrion got the head coaching job at Drexel (Philadelphia), where he had six 20-win seasons in eight years.

He didn't do very well at East Carolina and got axed by newly hired AD Terry Holland.  But Herrion was a head coach for 14 seasons.

Interesting that the new ECU coach, Ricky Stokes (off Dave Odom's staff), hired as his right hand man veteran coach Mack McCarthy (Chattanooga, VCU), who would have been a great hire for anyone.

East Carolina was a profoundly bad basketball team this past season, with a 9-19 record including 4-12 in conference.

They played at a slow pace, shot 29% from 3pt range, 44% from 2pt range, 63% at the line.  ECU was a decent rebounding team but gushed turnovers and averaged more than one foulout per game.

Herrion had Northeast connections, and it took him several years to get recruiting going.  He got Tom Hammonds' son last year.  This team had six freshmen, two jucos and a junior transfer from LaSalle.  The next coach probably wins with those players.

I agree, Lanny.  But adding a good veteran coach never hurts.  I like the guy from Tulane, but who knows whether he's even considering such jobs.

Maybe Heath needs a translator for Sean McCurdy.

Hot coaching prospect several years ago with GW and now his name doesn't come up much when vacancies come up.

Not sure if he wants to coach again.  He is NO spring chicken and being an analyst is not a bad gig at this point in his career.
