What about Stan now?

The past two weeks the air waves have been hot talking about replacing Stan. Now that he has gotten the Hogs into the dance, it leaves several questions still unanswered for me.

1. How will the spin masters spin Stan and the Hogs getting into the tournament. Are they still going to say he's gone.
2. Are they going to eat crow this week?
3. Does anything really change? Sure we go into the tournament but will all the other factors discussed on here this past week is Stan safe now or are they still going to replace him.

RhodeHog

They're going to say whatever the Athletic dept. tells them to say.  Stan stays now IMO.

GrumpyHog

I quit sure they were spoon feed the material they wanted out on the radio from the BAC.  I think the discussions were a little premature.

Yeah they were.  They were told to prepare us for his departure and it kind of backfired on them.  It's quite hilarious to me!

Stan stays, pure and simple. Back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances will do that for you, and there will be no doubt at all about Heath's status if the Razorbacks make it past the first round of the tournament this year -- it's hard to argue against steady improvement at the UA (unless you're talking about football, then a different set of standards seems to apply).

I just hope the Hogs show up at the beginning of the season with the same energy and drive we've seen over the past few days. If they can do that, the "let's get a new coach" talk will die in a hurry.

Stan stays another season at least, especially if we get to the sweet 16 (that's all I'm hoping for, the sweet 16, that would mean beating USC(turds) and Texas(superturds), that is the weird turds and the cow turds. ha.

Regardless, I bet he stays another. Afterall, how do you fire him and let Houston live on?
And, let's see, beginning this fall - Frank is AD, Houston is HC football and Stan is HC basketball. Damn, we've seen a lot of change this year.

HoopS

Maybe Stan will get offered another job and he can tell the BAC to take it and shove it...

I'm happy for Stan.   Is he the best we could do?   I doubt it.  He has improved every year and this one isn't over.

I agree, it seems it would be quit difficult now to replace Stan. The only way he leaves this year is if another school comes calling.

Well, I like him and think he is a late bloomer. I'm sure we could do better, but he's a good guy. Hope we stick with him a little while longer.

Does White come out with a support Stan statement?

Arkie

I don't think Stan will be sent packing this year.  With 20+ wins that would be hard to justify (except for the dismal road record).  Also, if the hogs win a couple in the tournament it will also help his cause. As for next year, he needs to win 20+ and make the dance again or he is right back where he was a week ago IMO.  In the overall picture--I don't see him at the U of A three years from now.

Dugann

Think he bought himself another year imo.

Not a big Heath fan, but I think he's earned another year with these players. Remember how we all felt about Nolan after 85, 86, 87? Or was he even there yet in 85? I've drank alot of beer since then.

SultanofSwine

The players probably earned him another year and I am very proud of the way they finished the year. Hog fans, however, deserve better than to be simultaneously stuck with him and Nutt at the same time.

They'll be itching to talk spring football and not tourney time. Chuckles had Stan packed and gone. He'll brush it off and talk football and his buddy HDN. He was just fleshing out rumours last couple of weeks not saying that HE thought Stan was toast. You know he's learned to slip out of any guilt by the legendary used car salesman HDN

If WE go one and out... and the Jayhawks go one (or maybe two) and out... KU will be ready to rid itself of Bill Self, and we might just be in prime position to swoop in for the kill.  Not saying it *will* happen, but it would certainly create an interesting scenario.

Stan doesn't need one. He's not hated nearly as much as The Dale®. Besides, the man doesn't need the same kind of head-patting and assurances that poor wittle Houston does.

hillhog

Take Stan over HDN the Dork any day.
Great tournament Stan and team. Good luck in the Big Dance. Go Hogs

Bottom line next yr if he can fill BWA

If the Hogs actually make it to the Sweet 16 and show some energy during the early season next year, the crowds will undoubtedly come back to Bud Walton.

George S. Pigton

If Stan makes it to the sweet 16 he is safe and the crowds will return with the players he
has coming back.  I don't think he has become a great coach, I think he players started playing
for him and for themselves.  If we see them mail it in for this first round game, the heat will be
back and he may still be asked to leave or maybe with any luck, someone will hire him away.

Still not a cool-aid drinker for Stan, he has to show me some coaching on Friday and maybe I'll
take a sip.

How did "we" feel about Nolan after his 5th season.

Given that Sutton only left 3 guys worthy of scholarships by the end of Nolan's second season, and that we had already been to 3 NCAA tourneys, won our first round game the second one, and finished in the final four by the third one,

I would say that "we" were a lot more confident in the belief the program was on a rise to NATIONAL prominence than any rational fan could possibly believe for today's program.
