I defer to the posters like UCA on things like recruiting and who we "lose" from each class to the draft.  It isn't easy recruiting to college baseball because of the draft and it taking high school prospects in addition to the 11.7.  How have we been affected in the NT era by committed/signed hitters deciding not to play college baseball?  I'm sure with our elite recruiting we commonly have this happen.

Quote from: DOGALUM on Today at 12:26:28 amSounds like a dumb move to me.  Not by Mr Harrison.....more power to him.   But is a 6'1" guy who presumably has not played competitive football in 10 years the best WR plan this staff can come up with?

I realize that, in theory anyway, anyone can try out for the team.....but if we are talking about a preferred walk on spot then it makes no sense to me.   I get that a PWO is not a scholly player....but it's also not just some geek off the streets either.

I just don't get it. Unless he has (very recently) gone through some serious screening process that I/we don't know about.
So you know more about an athlete's skill level than BP? got it, you were there during their meeting. He offers a couple things 1 maturity 2 leadership , he has been through both minor league and major league play so he knows work ethic. 3 If nothing else, he provides a good scout team WR. He was highly recruited 4 star in high school

Quote from: LDHognozzle on May 01, 2024, 09:39:50 pmI figured the changes had more to do with hair-doo's, funky fingernails, and super secrets having absolutely nothing to do with basketball.

 Position-less basketball
notwithstanding.

I miss the good ole days of combo guards...also the 6-8 to 6'9, 180 lb power forwards!!

Quote from: Letterman26 on Today at 04:02:16 pmThese takes are so abhorrent and clueless. With 11.7 scholarships, these coaches know where they have invested their "money".  When you have an ACE like H. Smith, you surround him with other pitching talent...therefore, you spend less of your scholarship money on hitting.  It's just the way it is.  Van Horn isn't going to look at Thompson and say, "you haven't done your job"...because he knows, he hasn't spent the scholarship money on hitters.  It's the tricky situation for college baseball.  You only have so many scholarship $$ to spend, so you either dive all into pitching or hitting.  It's not to say, you don't try to hit on both, but it is what it is.  This Razorback team is heavily invested in pitching (that's why our bullpen is sooo deep).
Just tired of seeing these "johny come lately" fans, say, "well, Thompson's gotta go"...blah blah blah".  You're clueless and it's showing.

Agree on the scholarship aspect. But what about nil?

The point as it relates here to Gafford is that he demonstrated his intensity in college and has continued to develop in the NBA.  Everyone is the NBA and NFL have the physical tools to make it to that level.  Once they get there, the difference is sometimes the six inches between the ears.  Gafford is a good example.  Does Brazile have the burning desire to make it over the long haul or not?  So far that may be the biggest question in the minds if those whose jobs depend on picking the best future players.

That has nothing to do with your original question.

Quote from: jst01 on Today at 02:50:33 pmWhat is more likely?

1) Nate is not good at his job of teaching college players to hit at an elite level

Or

2) 5+ guys that have been hitting prior to Nate, all at same time just sunk to career lows?

Whatever Nate's teaching method is doesn't work for the group. Maybe it does for a guy that already has MLB eye and pitch recognition. But for the everyday college hitter, his offenses have been gross. I hope DVH sends him somewhere else so we can get guys in the box that don't give away at bats all the time.

It's over. Hogs win by 5 and Mistry is tied for the individual lead with two other girls; Woad is one and still on the course. Will they have a playoff? Dunno.

Quote from: JHicks3636 on Today at 03:27:15 pmConditions must have been much different today.

Evidently so. Probably wind in Vegas.

Note that four of the six regionals were won by SEC teams, and the Hogs lost in the quarterfinals to A&M at the SEC championships. LSU also lost in the quarterfinals.

Quote from: donnie on Today at 03:30:20 pmNo, I'm saying the question in and of itself is silly. If you are displaying skills that translate to the NBA you are likely playing winning basketball. They go hand in hand. There are exceptions, but if Brazile could actually create wouldn't you have said that made our team a lot better? He couldn't and we stunk.

What exactly did you want Brazile to do that he didn't do?
