Our football team is mediocre too haha...

Did anyone really expect a winning season out of the gate this year?

Nobody that I know of, did-- and this team still has a legit shot at it.

We've got some really bad basketball teams still left on the docket.   Our key games will be the two tilts with Tennessee, @OM, @ Florida, and Tech.   If we can win 2 of those 5, we have a reasonable shot at being .500
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

It may happen, I thought 17 or 18 wins, but they are 3 wins behind pace at this point.

Here's the deal we lost 6 of the best players from last year, and we basically have 1 new player that can contribute! Poor recruiting overcomes any positive you can put together!

Why would we expect one of the Top 25 highest paid coaches to deliver Top 25 results?

Because you don't follow the team or its state, except on game days?

I dunno.

Not hardly....but OK.

18-20 over the last three seasons, 22-28 over the last four.  8-24 in SEC play.

Getting to .500 before the SEC tourney does not appear to be realistic.

If you can't see the difference I can't help you.

If he has a losing season next year he will be in MA's shoes(hot seat). He will be fired if sub .500 in year 5.

He only knows of two years of Arkansas football, outside of that, every other year sucks.

At least it is somewhat understandable given the SEC's football depth especially the West and what we are facing in terms of competition including recruiting.  SEC basketball is not one of the best P5 basketball conferences to say the least.  Mediocre in SEC bask is different than being accused of mediocrity in SEC West football.  Imagine what our basketball life would be like right now in the ACC or Big 12.

Parcels was talking about the NFL, where there's more parity. The SEC West is murderer's row, year after year.

So, we've got a reasonable shot at getting to .500 if we can somehow find a way to beat some really bad teams? That's a really, really sad place to be in your 5th season at the helm. I just don't know if he's ever going to recruit at a high enough level here. It looks like he's pinning his career here at Arkansas on a couple of JUCOs right now. I don't think he's a bad coach, but he's got to get better players, and fast. His time is running out here.

No.  We should beat the really bad teams.  We're going to have to beat some mediocre teams, maybe even a couple on the road, to be a .500 team this year.

Obviously you keep up with his posting style, which means his post history means something to you.  Others can play that game too is all I meant.  Other than that the difference in your post depending on what sport it is is noticeable.  I think your more inclined to comment on whether or not we suck in basketball vs football.  I don't know what if anything that has to do with the coaches or if it's something else.  Anyway I originally commented because of how quick you were to jump on a comment about our football team.

Well, I hope we get there I guess. Won't be good for the team's psyche to finish below .500. And I hope the Juco's come in and light it up and add to a more experienced lineup next year and we get back to the tournament. I really do want CMA to succeed here. I'm just getting to the point where college basketball is just not interesting to me at all. At this point, I feel like Moses will probably declare for the draft or some other catastrophe will come along and wipe out any gains we've made again. Hope not.

Well you have three choices...

You can embrace us beating bad teams in an effort to be a .500 team
Or you can not
Or you can be indifferent to it all

Either way, Mike's not even close to getting fired.

I would say that the apathy is so bad towards basketball that most fans will simply wait until the administration makes a change.  I wonder how bad it would have to get to that point seeing as how, with SEC money, fans don't matter anymore.

East and I have had many discussions, from football to the politics forum, so yeah, I'm pretty sure we both know each other's "style." I don't ever we say we suck no matter the sport. I actually thought there was no need to mention football in the basketball forum, but somebody went there, and I made my post.
