If anyone is wondering why Grand Canyon is appearing on so many transfer destination lists, "Thunder" Dan Majerle is the head coach.

FineAsSwine

If he only has two years to play, maybe he contributes as a senior. Seems to be a decent player.

TrueBlue

A guard that averaged 35% FG%; 30% 3PT %; and 59% FT % last year? Averaged 6 points?

Thunder Dan can have him.

Definitely not a possibility that has me too excited. Maybe he's a great defender. I'd rather have Ross for a year and another spot open for the 2017 class.

I'm with you. Give me Ross or someone that can play down in the paint. A bad shooting guard is not desirable, especially a guard that can't hit a free throw....I don't care how good of a defender they are.

Doesn't seem to make sense if we are trying to revamp the team for next year, but who knows, the kid could blossom to be a nice contributor after his red shirt year. I just don't like that it takes a scholly from 17'. And if we are going after guards from UNLV let's get Fisher.

Lopes pride, baby! This was our first year in D1 and we did well. We had a good Euro player on the team, not sure what year he was in.

I can tell you, he's working GCU into a better destination for basketball than ASU and the Devils are freaking out about it.

Believe he was. Senior transfer from Saint Louis or somewhere like that. Think he's Canadian not Euro. Josh Braun is their best player and he played at Boulder Creek in Anthem. His High a School Coach was the guy I first worked for when starting coaching out here in AZ.

Ouch!!! And why are we interested? You just can't win at a high level grabbing the low hanging fruit.

HoopS

What kind of D does he play? Is he a good passer?

Cornish had committed to Cal but it sounds like there could have been a numbers crunch with scholarships and/or a problem with Cornish's academics. He originally signed with Tennessee out of high school but Cuonzo Martin apparently did not have enough scholarships to offer him a spot (seems to be a theme here) when he took that job.

I assume they figure he can return to his FR percents.

FG .424 3 FG .487 and FT .795 in 16MPG for 5.5pts per game

HoopS

Doesn't take a ton of shots but shot .487% from 3 as a freshmen then .301 as a soph.

Shot nearly .80% FT as Freshman then 60% as a Soph.

Scott7703

Swine, what's your take on this? I'm struggling to get excited about this kid with the numbers he put up at unlv.

potential and depth. Look at his shooting as a freshman.  Plus he's 6'6" so he has some length to work with. Assuming he's a system fit or we wouldn't even bother.

I just remember the Canadian guy winning player of the week, lol. I'm pretty proud of Thunder Dan going 27-7 in the first year of D1. I just saw the arena for the first time, looks nice. Looking at the stats, Grandy Glaze might've been the best player with 15 and 9

Ridder or Garland would be way better options.

That doesn't seem to happen too often. I wonder if we will look back...

I bet he wanted to come for the practice facility  ;D

You never know in advance what the outcome of any given situation is so either get busy living or get busy dying.

Jonteviosk

On a serious note though tell me we really aren't interested in him even as a rotation player.

If I was interested in any UNLV players who played last year it would Either Patrick McCaw or Stephen Zimmerman Jr.

McCaw 14;7 pg 5.1 reb 3.9 asst .465 fg% .366 3pt% .774 ft % 2.5 st 6'7 190 Jr
Zimmerman 10.5 pts 8.7 Reb 2.0 bl .477 fg% .624 ft% 7'0 240 So

I think any of us would love to have them transfer here lol

UNLV transfer Jordan Cornish told @CBSSports that he has committed to Tulane. Very good get for Mike Dunleavy Sr.
