Defensive tackle Tashawn Manning has committed to Auburn, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder from Apopka., Fla., picked the Tigers over offers from Central Florida, Indiana, Louisville, N.C. State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Purdue, South Florida and West Virginia, among others.

"I talked it over with my parents and we decided Auburn was the best school for me," Manning told Rivals. "It feels exciting. Next fall, I'll be a War Eagle."

The three-star defensive end prospect from Carrollton, Ga., took an overnight trip to the Plains for a 7-on-7 camp last weekend and told 247Sports he is "99.9 percent" sure he will commit to the Tigers.

"I'm narrowing everything down," Boykin said. "I love Auburn University to death. I love the coaches and everything. I'm going to make it official sometime soon. I'm going to come back later on this week sometime with my mom."

Boykin entered 2015 without a single offer, but his stock has skyrocketed in recent months after tweaking his highlight tape.

Alabama ventured into Michigan to land its latest commit in four-star defensive end Khalid Kareem. The Harrison High School standout picked the Tide over Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame.

"They have a great coaching staff," Kareem said about Alabama.

Kareem had previously committed to Michigan State in February...

He is rated the No. 10 strong-side defensive end in the country and No. 185 overall player.

Antwuan Jackson plans to share some news along the holiday weekend. The 4-star defensive tackle still plans to trim his list of 42 scholarship offers down to 10 schools on July 4. There will be some good news up ahead for the red and black.

The rising senior told the AJC this week that UGA and Auburn will "always be there" among his top schools. Not only on this weekend's top 10 list, but until the very end.

"I am always going to be looking at Georgia," said Jackson, who's added 15 pounds since his junior year. "They are my home school."

The Cedar Grove standout is not sure if he will attend UGA's elite "Dawg Night" prospect camp yet later this month. The rising senior said defensive line coach Tracy Rocker is one of if not the best defensive line coach in the country.

One of Alabama's top defensive end targets went off the board as four-star Xavier Kelly from Wichita, Kan., committed to Clemson on Friday.

His top five at the end were Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State and Michigan...

Bama has other targets on the board at the defensive end position, though it will be a battle. Some are straight defensive ends while others, like Kelly, have the versatility to drop into coverage:

* Jeffery Simmons, a four-star from Macon, Miss., who is also being recruited by Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn and others.

* Terrell Hall, a four-star from Washington, D.C., who has visited Alabama twice this year. The most recent was a five-night trip for camp and a cookout. Hall is committed to Ohio State.

* Janarius Robinson, a four-star from Panama City who is committed to Florida State. He has maintained interest in Alabama despite his early verbal to the Seminoles.

* Marlon Davidson, a five-star from Greenville. He has family ties to Auburn but visited Alabama late this week.

Marlon Davidson has told the AJC that if National Signing Day was this Wednesday, he'd go to Auburn.  The Greenville, Ala., defensive end would be a huge pull for defensive line coach Rodney Garner and first-year defensive coordinator Will Mushchamp.

"I'd go to Auburn with the stuff I know and the stuff I've been around," Davidson said.

The 5-star prospect knows the depth chart at Auburn. He's aware that Montravius Adams and Carl Lawson will not likely be at Auburn next year. He knows which defensive lineman have gotten into trouble and are no longer around. Davidson — who has a 23 on his ACT — also knows heralded incoming freshman defensive end Byron Cowart will not play the same position he does.

But National Signing Day is months away. That's why the the 5-star also said his recruitment was "wide open" and there's scant separation between Auburn, Alabama and UGA.

Newkirk ran for 225 yards on just eight carries with four touchdowns in First Academy's 42-24 win over Calvary Christian...

Newkirk, who wasn't ranked by the recruiting services when he committed, will primarily play running back for TFA but get in some work defensively when needed.

Last year, Newkirk averaged 5.3 tackles per game in eight games on defense, according to the Orlando Sentinel. He had eight sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.

"I've been playing running back all my life," Newkirk said. "Last year was my first time ever playing defensive end for a school. I guess (Auburn) likes me there and that's what they needed.

"I guess it can switch up at any time. If anything, coach (Scott) Fountain mentioned H-back."

He had offers from the likes of Kentucky, Syracuse, Marshall and Alabama before committing to Auburn on a June visit. He picked Auburn due to the relationship with the coaching staff and his bond with fellow Auburn commits Woody Barrett and Tashawn Manning.

He also said he gave head coach Gus Malzahn his word that he wouldn't visit any other schools...
