What in the world is going on with this stock? Its going crazy. We have a certain percentage in our portfolio that is dedicated to reckless abandon. We are thinking about investing in KKD just for fun.

Any thoughts?

Seems to me that donuts will always be around and when times are tough they make a really good comfort food.

Can you say oversaturation of the market?   That stock is going no where.

Agreed. They have gone the way of Starbucks, Crocs, Chipotle, etc. Darlings that fall back to Earth. KKD isnt a bad stock persay, but it wont have any huge rise again until the market changes and they go through remakes themselves..... IMO.

The fact that you can type the words doesn't stop the thought behind those words from being horseshit.

Well, I will take a stab at this, their CEO stepped down in January after only 2 years at the helm. They've had an accounting scandal and had to restatement their financial statements. Their are reasons stocks look cheap, just do a little research and you can probably find out why. I've said investing is not a rocket science. Good luck and remember research before investing. Good luck

Thanks and I did mention My wife and I have a high risk fund just to play around with. This would not be unlike taking $500 to the Creek Casino. High risk.

KKD went up to five dollars today.

KKD rose from $3 to $5 after the company reported a good quarter.  Cash was up, debt down.  Operating cash flow was 10c a share.  Company-owned same-store sales change was positive.

Main positive was the apparent relief of worries that the company might not be able to handle its debt.  Company-owned stores are unprofitable, and some franchisees are failing--leading to calls on the company's portion of franchisee debt.

Grain prices hurt and will continue to do so.  More franchisee closures are coming.  Main problem is the off-premises product sales, the part that was supposed to juice growth.  It overextended the brand and lowered consumers' perception of Krispy Kreme quality.  They are still trying to grow off-premises sales, with new longer shelf life products.  I don't expect this to work.

You have to expect profit margins to rise pretty soon if you are going to buy this stock.

Thanks Biggus.

My propensity towards being a little adventurous and even reckless at times gets in the way of sound judgment. Fortunately the wife is a steadying influence.  With her urging we have agreed to look at it again when it gets to $ 10.00.  But, thanks for your sound advise and reasoning.

I bought 300 shares of this at around $38 a few years back.  Just after that, they had lots of investigations and it started diving.  I ended up selling at $9.00.   Needless to say, I'm still very bitter at the company.
