I spend almost everyday in spreadsheets looking at numbers-part numbers, cost, resale, inventory, margins.  Our Hogs have now been in the SEC 25 years and some numbers have jumped out at me.

28 and 24.  Either score 28 or more on offense or hold the other team to 24 or less.

Arkansas has had 14 winning season (total wins) since joining the SEC.  The Hogs have 9 losing seasons and two .500 seasons.  In 11 of the winning seasons, the Razorbacks averaged 28 or more points per game.  Only in 1995, 2001 and 2002 did Arkansas have a winning season and not average 28 points per game.  Only in 2004 did the Razorbacks score more than 28 (29.42) and have a losing season (5-6).

On the defensive side, Arkansas has given up more than 24 points 11 of 25 years.  Out of the 9 losing seasons, the Hogs gave up more than 24 points 7 times.  Only 4 of the winning seasons did the Razorbacks give up more than 24 points per game.

Have been keeping up with this since about 1994 and I thought that I might have to adjust the 28 and 24 rule with the spread offensives coming into vogue, but that is not the case.   As I sat in the stadium in Columbia, MO, I thought about these numbers.  One more score will do it.  Same thing for the bowl game.

Since 1992 Arkansas has had-
one 11 win season
two 10 win seasons
three 9  win seasons
five  8 win seasons
Three 7 win seasons

Nine times the Razorbacks have averaged 30+ points a game.
Houston Nutt had three-1998, 2003 & 2007 (37.31 points per game-highest in Hogs SEC time)
Bobby Petrino had three-2009, 2010 & 2011 (36.77 points per game-CBP's highest)
Bret Bielema has three -2014, 2015 (35.92 points per game-CBB's highest so far) & 2016

Glad for the defensive changes coming and looking forward to the new defensive coach.  I am glad that Dan Enos is still here.  Just renewed my season tickets and am looking forward to the new year and once again, I will be watching the numbers.

Interesting insights.  I'm into numbers myself.
