That's what we all need to know. Does he want to breathe that fire again?

Actually I tend to believe he would. There is alot of positive energy in the program, we have young aggressive coaching on offense, and I can see it being very motivational. No doubt Coach Chavis has the knowledge and experience to work magic, he is an older guy but he ain't dead yet.. lol

I think we need a good mix of older and younger proven defensive coaches, those that can stop the run and those that can attack the spread. Maybe co-DC's but doubt Chavis would agree to that.

I hope CCM challenges Chavis to tool and retool the defense until he can stop Morris' offense every day in practice. Iron sharpens iron and I get the sense that Chavis was held back at aTm similar to how BP held the defense back here

That thought crossed my mind too but why would Sumlin do that?

Why did BP do it? More concerned with offense, and seriously thought they could always outscore the other team.

Hogville prediction formula:

1.  Insert bad news prediction. A loss, a recruit going elsewhere, a coach leaving, etc.
2.  Tag "hope I'm wrong," on the end.
3a.  Enjoy a correct prediction.
3b.  Act like you're relieved you're wrong and celebrate with everyone else.

Here's what he has done at LSU and A&M. I think his defenses do better when the defensive plays/gm are in the 60's, generally speaking. 70 or more and they seem to do worse.

Check the Pts/Yd allowed as well. I just wonder how he will do with our defense when the offense is running 70+ plays p/game next year, assuming he is announced. It's easy to say, "just get more 3 and outs", but I think we all know that is more difficult to do than to say.

Look above and compare what Chavis has achieved (bad end this year) particularly with regard to scoring defense and compare that to what we have done. If he is the man, surely he can't do anything but help our situation.

The longer this goes I think it could be Brent, he'd challenge the status quo for sure.

Could we get that lucky?

I don't think Morris would hire a coach if he didn't think the coach has considerable passion for the game.

Chavis deserves majors props for his work at LSU - when their offense was abysmal most of his time there.
