... I'm a Razorback-backer  on the wrong side of the Atlantic Ocean .  While I love the Hogs, its awfully hard to get news on them here in Ireland, so I thought I'd join up with Hogville.net and get the best fan discussion available.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Wife.  Ah well.  She at least understands me listening to football on the internet at 2 in the morning and screaming loud enough to wake the neighbors when the Hogs are playing.

It is, supposing you can get around the 305 rainy days a year, and the temperature never breaking  35 in winter, or 80 in high summer.

A good part of this country is nigh-inaccessible; transportation networks here suck.  Whereabouts was your father's side of the family from, originally?  If its practical from a travel standpoint, I might even go take some pictures.

My wife has traveled many places around the world but Ireland is without a doubt her favorite. She's been there three times.  The next time I plan to go with her and have many, many pints. ;)

Hey ErieHog, 35 and 80 sounds great. Would love to visit Ireland sometime. Any ski slopes? I'm new to Hogville, too.

No skiing, unless its on water.  Snow is an odd event around here.

How close are you to Galway?  Don't know much about it, but my great grandfather was a schoolteacher there before immigrating to America.  Plan on going there someday...

If you look at the date of the OP, it's about 5 years old.  I've been back stateside for about 2.5 years.

I lived in Dublin, about a 2 hour train trip from Galway.   Went a few times a year, for differing reasons.

The bay is nice, and during the spring and summer there is a neat little market that they have down on the waterfront,  but it's not that super-different from any other small town in Ireland.
