130 grain ballistic silvertips or accubond 140 grain.

Field shots. 50-250 yds.

Thoughts?

Depends on the gun.  I have a .270 that will stack 130 grain shots on top of each other no matter what brand/style, but if you put 140 grain bullets in it the groups aren't as good.  I'd try both.

Shot the .270 Silvertips until the last two deer I shot with them ran 100+ yards. Reason: bullet never deformed- performed like a FMJ.
Barnes Triple Shocks for the last 6 years. Every deer I have shot with that bullet dropped like a sack of bricks. No tracking. Done. Barnes Tripple Shock all the way.

I'm shooting a .270 this season after shooting a .308 the past several seasons.  No problems with the .308, just wanted to shoot something different.  Went with a Ruger M77 Hawkeye with walnut stock and blued barrel.  Put a Leupold VarX II 3x9x50 on it and shooting Hornady Superformance 130gr. SST bullets.  Shoots great on the range.  I hope to see what it does to a deer soon.

Nice gun philo. Same one I'm shooting. Working on a zeiss for it.

Last year I used a 270 with 130 grain silver tips and went 2/2 with zero tracking.

I shoot the Hornady Customs in a 130 grains and I love the way they shoot in my 270.  The gun is a Winchester with a synthetic stock.

Depends on what your rifle likes but that round will kill anything you hunt in the state.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

I have a BAR .270 that I have killed 20+ bucks with a variety of different bullets. I have never had to track one more than 50 yds and every one was a one shot kill. I shot it yesterday just to see if it was still on from last year and shot a 1.5" group at 100 yds from the hood of my truck. Also used two different bullets..140 and 130 grain. I love that gun.

If you're looking for the best deals on Zeiss, here is were I have bought mine:

I ended up selling them used for as much as I paid new, and replaced them with leupolds.  I love Zeiss binos, but prefer leupold scopes.

If you call, ask to talk to Doug.  He sounds like the typical New yorker but is a nice guy who hunts and fishes a lot.  His brother Joel runs the camera side of the business and is a great person to get a deal on cameras and lenses.

Exactly what I shoot in my BAR and I don't track either...I've been shooting this setup since the mid 80's without any tracking either.   The Ballistic Tips's will do a number on a deer--elephants maybe not, but a deer---yes.

I bought a .270 last month for $260 and need to get it sighted in and hope to shoot a caribou with it next season. I think I am going to try the Barnes TTSX in it, as everything I have heard is excellent.

A 270 is a very nice weapon.... For a girl!!! J/K

My wife does shoot one, but I would say it performs great with the 130 grain Core-lokt. It's a Savage and has really tight groups at 100 yds. Good luck.
