wide receiver/cornerback/return specialist Jarius Wright can do it all on the gridiron and in college he will take his multiple talents to Arkansas.

Jarius Wright is the third Warren product to commit to the Hogs this year
Wright, 5-11 1/2, 180, 4.34 seconds in the 40-yard dash, committed to the Razorbacks late Tuesday night after also considering Oklahoma, Florida, Texas Tech and getting an offer from Tennessee as well as others.

"First, Arkansas is my homestate," Wright said. "My family and friends will be able to come see me play. The fans will cheer for me and all the Razorbacks because it's Arkansas."

Wright's father, Joe, is an avid Razorback fan and has made no secret of the fact he wanted his son to stay in the state.

"I called him on Tuesday night and told him I was a Razorback," Wright said. "I don't think it has completely hit him yet. He was excited."

While Wright's father and family are excited, so are Arkansas' fans. Wright ran a 4.34 in the 40-yard dash on Saturday at the Seniors Camp in Fayetteville. Wright is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. Wright played six positions for the Lumberjacks last fall and Arkansas is aware of how versatile he is as well.

"That's one of the main reasons I chose Arkansas," Wright said. "Arkansas gave me a chance to do more than one thing. Most of the schools just wanted me to play wide receiver. Arkansas is recruiting me as a wide receiver, but they also want me to play some cornerback, punt returner and kickoff returner. I feel I can do all those positions in college and I want the chance to try it. The fact Arkansas was willing to let me do that really helped."

At Warren, Wright played quarterback, wide receiver, safety, cornerback, punt returner and kick returner. Wright said Warren also had a few plays where he went in motion and basically was a running back in that scheme. Wright is willing to play even more positions this fall for Coach Bo Hembree if it means a state championship for Warren.

"You can't be stingy," Wright said. "You have to be a team player. You can't worry about how many touches you get or who scores how many touchdowns. I will do anything the coaches here or at Arkansas ask me to do to help the team."

David Lee serves as offensive coordinator at Arkansas, but he also is one of the best recruiters in the nation. In the past, Warren players usually ended up at Tennessee or some other school. However, Lee made one of his first priorities in recruiting this year to go to Warren and meet with Hembree. Lee and Hembree along with Arkansas Coach Houston Nutt all met in the spring.

"He has done a great job recruiting me," Wright said. "He kept it legal and did it the right way. I feel he is a good person. I also really like Coach Nutt. He has been very nice to me."

Many observers familiar with football at Warren feel that Wright will be the best to ever come through the school.

"I'm a real fast wide receiver," Wright said. "I can take it to the house at any time and have very good hands."

Wright and around seven of his other teammates attended the Seniors Camp at Arkansas this past Saturday. In addition to Wright, athlete Basmine Jones, 6-1, 196, 4.49, and wide receiver Chris Gragg, 6-3, 195, 4.6, have also committed to Arkansas. The Razorbacks remain in the hunt for wide receiver Greg Childs, 6-4, 195, 4.55, of Warren as well.

"I feel I did really well up there," Wright said. "I enjoyed my stay up there. I had a good time."

In addition to Jones and Gragg as well as Childs, Wright is also friends with Camden Fairview quarterback Jim Youngblood, 6-3 1/2, 216, 4.69, and running back De'Anthony Curtis, 5-10, 209, 4.41, who also have committed to Arkansas. Camden Fairview defensive lineman Lavunce Askew, 6-3, 279, 4.89, will announce his decision on Saturday at noon between Arkansas, Tennessee and Oklahoma State.

"I have friends coming to Arkansas with me," Wright said. "That is why I'm not worried about fitting in. I already have a lot of friends I know going up there too."

Wright is also thankful to Hembree for allowing him to showcase his skills while helping the Lumberjacks remain a powerhouse in the state each year.

"He will do anything to keep us out of trouble," Wright said. "He is more like a father to us than a coach. He's a really good coach and knows what he is doing."

Warren went 13-1 last season and finished as the state runner-up. Many feel Warren will be back in the state championship game to try and win it all this season
