Syntax

    DEVICEHIGH [drive:][path]filename [dd-parameters]

To specify the region(s) of memory into which to load the device driver, use
the following syntax:

    DEVICEHIGH [[/L:region1[,minsize1][;region2[,minsize2] [/S]]=
    [drive:][path]filename [dd-parameters]

Parameters

[drive:][path]filename
    Specifies the location and name of the device driver you want to load
    into the upper memory area.

dd-parameters
    Specifies any command-line information required by the device driver.

Atari 16 was my first.
Talked my wife into upgrading to a Commadore 64 a few years later. Wow! 64K memory and a tape drive.

Now my tooth brush has more memory.

Wow.
Brings back memories.

I downloaded a free assembler from Q-Link. I would sit down for hours and write code for it. I actually learned assembly language on that machine.

I could write software in pure machine code. 010001011110101000111010101101010


And yes, that is my toothbrush. ;)

That's good stuff. I remember getting in trouble in 1st grade for brining a screwdriver and trying to take apart the class Commodore 64. Never liked programming but loved the hardware side. But I had always wondered about the DEVICEHIGH thing too.

Most of the players are maybe a year or two younger than I.  It's their own fault they don't know about command line operating systems :-)
