"You're looking live at Little Rock, Arkansas where Arkansas and Arkansas St. are set to play in the Diamond Bowl!  Oh what a scene it is!  Just look at that golf course! I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it!"  - Brent Musburger

Solves attendance problem.  Solves running away scared problem.  Even if they beat us, they'll never be us.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I am all for it.   Too many University of Arkansas fans are afraid to play them.  I say play them, beat them and leave no doubt.

No problem, let's just play them in Fayetteville where 22,000 more can watch it.

roothawg

Sounds good. It's sad the hogs will pay to play sunbelt teams when they could play one and save a few hundred thousand, plus there would at least be some excitement for the game

If The PTB in central Arkansas see the benefit of an upgraded/larger stadium and commitments of generosity that the UA would not lose 5 million per game, I could see a benefit ...... I loved going to the Rock as a kid from the east and a student from the U of A, but when it's that much money, it has to be a deciding factor..

What if it was considered a neutral sight game.  No student tickets,  no discounted faculty tickets etc. for either team,  with a top dollar price per ticket.   Maybe corporate sponsorship of the game by Little Rock businesses. Could  that loss be offset?   Just asking.  Eliminate the GSD.

THE DIAMOND BOWL!!!
It does have a nice ring to it, make it a trophy game

WoooPigBrewie

In my opinion, this would help high school football.

OR ...

Schedule a weak P5 team every year, so we have a respectable win or respectable loss (Indiana, Illinois, Rutgers).

Fill the stadium.

Receive national exposure versus regional interest.

Every high school recruit would probably go, would definitely create some buzz initially.  After a while, it would probably end up like Army/Navy game where everyone tunes in just to see if this is the year that Army is maybe going to come out on top. (NOTE: Army = ASU for all the smart alecs)

Heard that Asa thinks this would play well in his bid for re-election.

Swap it for Jerry's World?   Have A&M come there every year and call it neutral.. ha

I like the idea of 1 good game a year to satisfy LR.  Maybe you do the diamond bowl every other year (create some suspense and have to live with the results for a bit).  Then do something like this in the opposite year, perhaps Mizzou.

So what is the benefit to the program? You don't think we would still have to split some of the money with ASU? This sounds like a great idea for people in central arkansas who don't want to drive ... with zero benefit to the program.

What about ASU play UCA in WMS every year instead. You are not going to get the Hogs to play ASU. It's like asking male UFC fighters to fight female UFC fighters. Nothing to be gained by a victory in such fight, but a lot to be lost if they are defeated. The Hogs May be down right now but ASU is still tiers and tiers below them. There is no comparison nor rivalry except in the minds of ASU fans. That is also why the nfl does not play college football teams anymore.

Oh course we split the money.

Remember, the Little Rock game isn't about money.

Could definitely help that stadium.

Would sell out.

No need for us to keep running.

Only if the Tamu game becomes a true home and away game. If not we would have another away game where the team has to travel and the students cannot attend.

Its not just a central AR thing, its really about location in general.  I have a buddy who is a die hard Hog fan (ASU alum at that) and lives in Jackson, MS.  He and his son will drive to LR more readily than FV.  On the otherhand same argument can be made if you live in Dallas, more than likely to go to a FV game than LR.

I'm all for it but it won't happen anytime soon.  I think a real possibility is bringing back LSU or adding Mizzou.  The road years for that game will be replaced by a weak out of conference game.  Probably the first game of the year.

I agree that not much is to be gained from a victory other than shutting ASU fans down, but what's to be lost? Recruits? Respect from other SEC schools (not that we have any right now)?

The four people that have season tickets next to us in RRS drive up from Dallas.

They sell more student tickets to the "Dallas" game then show up for RRS games. Of course, it's mostly Texas kids going home to reload the ATM card, but they go to the game.

WMS deserves a sell out and an excited crowd and game!

The SEC won't force teams to play us there anymore.

So when no SEC agrees to play us there, we need a back-up plan.

I don't know one person who could tell you ASU's opponent from one week to the next or their record, but let a Hogs/Wolves matchup be suggested and most act like they've lived their life to see it happen.  I don't think that's the case as much as it's become the politically correct thing to say.

I am not afraid to play anyone.  I grew up in Oklahoma where OU plays OSU every year and OU plays Tulsa from time to time.  The world just kept on turning.  OU fans were still OU fans.  Tulsa fans were still Tulsa fans..  As Roosevelt said the only thing you have to fear is fear itself--or something like that.  Much like county option in alcohol Arkansas is one of the very last states that still loves to sweat the small stuff.

bythelake

Game with astate will not happen any time soon, nor should it.

If you don't understand that by now, well,  I'm not going to explain it to you.  You apparently will never understand.  UA first in all decisions.
